Just 18% of American voters believe that Iran has halted its nuclear weapons program. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that 66% disagree and say Iran has not stopped its nuclear weapons program.

The Rasmussen Reports survey also found that 67% of American voters believe that Iran remains a threat to the national security of the United States. Only 19% disagree while 14% are not sure.

According to this poll it appears that a lot of Americans don't believe the latest NIE. Of course, with the track record of US intelligence over the last few years I don't find this surprising at all.

This is why I continue to express to people that the NIE is not a victory against Bush. The people are going to hear about this and say, well, Iran had a nuclear weapons program, that settles it! Bombs away. The white house is selling it that way too.

Listen ye all, for this is truth.
There were no weapons program in the first place to stop.
When they make reference to a program being stopped, they are talking about uranium enrichment, which is not a weapons program.

Once you accept the NIE as truth, you make 2 things truth. You make uranium enrichment a weapons program, and the weapons program real.
There has never been any evidence for a weapons program outside of the 8th grade science experiment of uranium hemispheres.
