Dinosaurs breathed like penguins

From external source:
Dinosaurs like Velociraptors owe their fearsome reputation to the way they breathed, according to a UK study.

news.bbc.co.uk...

Story snippet:

They had one of the most efficient respiratory systems of all animals, similar to that of modern diving birds like penguins, fossil evidence shows.

Kinda funny given the fact penguins are virtually harmless.

I'm sure they are. Honestly I expected Dinosaurs to be about .000000001% like penguins. That's why I like ATS though....

so, those dinosurs didn't waste energy by having to breathe while in pursuit of the prey....
i deduce that they hyper ventelated as a lead up to the pursuit
and more or less accomplishing a form of blood-doping by saturating their blood system with oxygen....
just like diving birds do now?

so that would trash the hollywood image that great roars from T-Rex
before the fight were a standard practice...

raptors were more muted than vociferious is my take on this news

0.0000000001% like dinosaurs is right. Well at least my opinion. I wish I was writing these articles. Then again, there would be too many conspiracy theories if that was the case.
I guess that teeny tiny little percentage meant serious verocity in respiratory terms.

i don't know if this makes penguins more awesome or dinosaurs more awesome... because they were both pretty damn cool to begin with.

Actually one of the reasons why the dinosaurs were dominant for such a long time was that the ammount of oxygen was much lower. As Dinosaurs have a much more efficient way getting oxygen out of the air they were at a advantage.

the oxygen concentration in the atmosphere appears to of been around the same it is today compared to most of the mesozoic, and much higher in the late cretaceous.

Penguins are the deadliest creatures known to man

Well. Your post proves my point. Sure in the cretacious the oxygen level was higher but when the dinosaurs made theire rise to dominance the triassic it was much lower.

You mean one of the deadliest creatures known to smallish fish.
