The New Very large Quotes Warning Messages

The Warning messages are worse looking then the quotes themselves. I think its a tad overboard.

Naturally I am on the other side of this from you ThePieMan ...

Of course but the idea of the big quotes warning is to keep the board from looking cluttered I'm assuming..well those warning messages only replaced the clutter with more clutter.

I'm thinking those Big Garish Quote tags might serve as good reminders.
And the "ugliness" of the tag could go a long way in reducing the number of infractions.

That someone complaining about the new "Big Quote" system would include a "big Quote" in their post...

Perhaps the inserted image isn't garish enough...

well at 14,341 bytes each it would take the place of 14,341 characters. I just didnt understand if the big quotes warning was to conserve on bandwidth it would actually consume more if there were multiple images being viewed by many people in a thread. Its not really a complaint.

It looks like there may be an error in the code from that screenshot you posted. What thread is that? (There should only be one image per post.)

Excessive Quoting is much more than a bandwidth issue... in fact, "bandwidth" is the least of the issues related to very-large quotes.

Thanks Helmutt was just about to post that. If it gets posted just once then everyone is right it will serve its purpose but going by all the reasoning stated in the warning it would be a little overboard.


since it says that big quotes cause a stress on the server and that it takes from the flow of conversations. If 6 of those are posted in one post it kind of defeats the purpose.
