A disquiet: India will get APG-79

A recent news tell us, that US will sell India F/A-18E/Fs with APG-79 on it, accompany this deal, India will get permission to produce the APG-79 that is only AESA radar in the world except that one on F-22. I worried that although India is the biggest democratic nation in Asia, but they also is one of ally of Russia, whereas Russia is not so friendly to US, beside they are still researching AESA radar for their next generation jetfighter. Then What if India give the advanced APG-79 to Russia? Are there any countermeasure US have for this?

Russia are offering India AESA radars as well. So is Israel. So is the UK.

Russian Aircraft Corporation (RAC) will showcase to an international audience, MiG-35, a combat aircraft fitted with an "active phased-array radar and optronics based on space technology" at the Aero India 2007 which commences here tomorrow, RAC's top official said.

The latest MiG-35, multifunctional fighter, equipped with new generation avionics systems will be in demand by both the Russian Air Force and international customers, Fedorov, President RAC told a press conference in the MiG chalet at Air Force Station Yelahanka here.

The fighter will be offered to the Indian Air Force for the MMRCA tender (medium Multi-Role Combat Aircraft), he said.

The programme of development and production of MiG-35 envisages a large-scale technology transfer and further cooperation with the Indian industry, Fedorov said.

Ahhhh, listen to the Chinaman bemoan technology transfer to the Indians... It's enough to make you weep for giggling.

Of course when the /Chinese/ sold TBM technology to the Paks and then everyone on the planet, including the CIA, denied it. Well, that was just good business too, wasn't it?

Mind you, I think it's stupid to sell miltech to anyone in that benighted part of the planet but given this nation's MIC is fully vested in Vae Victis Vickers selling our shirts to stay above water and there is also a clear effort on to create a 'regional ally' to backstop our flight from the PG and keep the Paks honest about AfG (as the Cope Indias and other exercises suggest as being the 'new Phillipines if not SWATO' standup of a defacto alliance), it's not exactly unexpected now is it?

The F/A-18E/F being a trainwreck of airframe problems wrapped around a fairly decent (ACS + APG = NCW command node capable) avionics package is probably the only reason it /could/ be sold. And is one of the biggest weakness' in the current Indian lineup of manual shooter/illuminator and MFFC concept air power.

Since, again, this influence-peddling is no different from what the Russians and Chinese are doing to prop up or transfer-enable nuclear technologies into Iran and elsewhere, they are fools if they don't think we will not follow them down the same dark path of warmonger profiteering.

The only question is how stupid the locals are in taking the weapons by which they will better slaughter each other in meeting the agendas of outside interests. I don't suppose anyone will look at the precursors to WWI and see the similarities inherent to a 'war by proxy' setup.

But hey, India as subcontinent militant superpower is the Chinese' problem, not ours. That is after all 'their' half of the world, isn't it?

Maybe.. But the snickers are on other faces when Russia/China arm those militia in Arabia, and Israeli/American forces are the target of that.

What was that weakness again? The prospective hornets or the MFFC approach itself? Or the lack of NCW?

Just to add to this, the Northrop Grumman AN/APG-80 "Agile Beam Radar" AESA radar is also on offer to India.

.. and the sale of these very bells and whistles (among many other things) have been cleared by the US Congress.
