The House voted to block a law that permitted the seizure of legal guns by law abiding citizens in an emergency or disaster situation. With all of the laws that are going through Congress limiting and restricting our freedoms, its nice to see one that may bring some back.

....

Republican Rep. Bobby Jindal, the Louisiana lawmaker who sponsored the bill, said firearms seizures after Hurricane Katrina left residents unable to defend themselves.

Many of them were sitting in their homes without power, without water, without communication," he said. "It was literally impossible to pick up a phone and call 911."

The House voted 322-99 in support of the bill. Senators voted 84-16 earlier this month to include a similar prohibition in a homeland security funding bill.

This is a step in the right direction and I hope to see more legislation like this.

So they really voted to stop violating the 2nd Amendment rights of Americans?
Woah, gee, thanks a lot fellas... so nice of you!

But anyways, sarcasm aside, yes, this is a very good thing and it makes me happy.

You Americans are so lucky when it comes to Gun ownership.
In Canada, the gov't took away all property rights back in 1993. Not one peep out of the media & the majority of our population doesn't even know about it.
Bill C-124 in case a socialist/commie leech wants to argue with me from Canukistan.
What was extremely hilarious was during the debates of Canada's last election between potential Canadian Prime Ministers/NWO U.N. puppets aka, Stephen Harper, Paul Martin, & Jack Layton (the other party leaders were NOT allowed to debate I might add) is that:
During this debate Stephen Harper said the Gov't should restore property rights to Canadian Citizens, then Paul Martin stood their with a dumb look on his face finally saying " Um, well, AH, we couldn't ban handguns if we restored property rights!"
Jack of course was silent.
Harper met with the Bildebergers, thus I knew he was gonna be Prime Puppet!
However he did say a possible global economic collapse would be the result of not honoring campaign promises. I immediatley knew this was a warning. Pulled everything out of the Stockmarket and am laughing now cause I still got my money while everyone else is about to lose their shirts.
We can't have guns without going throught a maze of bureaucratic mazes, courses, licensing, registering, and acceptance of confiscation at any time. With the registration of "firearms" the Gov't can come into our homes at any time to see if the weapons are stored properly! This includes kicking in the door at 3:00 a.m. in the morning without having to pay restitution or compensation for damages.
Not only that but they aren't even teaching the new recruits of our RCMP (our red colored secret police) & local police forces that citizens can have guns lawfully if they jump through all proper hoops & hurdles. If I had a nickel for everytime a new recruit pulls over a farmer or hunter in rural Saskatchewan and spots a rifle or shotgun in a case in the backseat upon which the officer completely loses' it, calls for mega back up, throws the driver on the ground, handcuffs them, siezes the weapon, takes it unlawfully, then destroys them in a shop before a trial is even set. Then the Judge politely scolds the officer not to do it again but nobody gets their gun back.
TELL ME THIS IS NOT A CONSPIRACY!
My solution, revoke citizenship on the corporate slaveship, then you get all your unalienable God given rights back instead of Gov't granted Priviledges & benifits that end up costing more than they are worth. You can't be forced to leave Turtle Island (North & South American Aboriginal term for this land mass) when you were born on it. You become a "Denizen" No income tax Either!
