Hey, i'm sorry for the temporary shift into the realm of poetry but i noticed the last thread was of a similar style.... I wrote a poem about the government and about exploitation of troops etc and i hope im not upsetting anyone by posting it here where people are genuinely interested in the subject matter instead of 'poets'

Final Reprieve

A final reprieve – granted to humanity,
A chance to realise that WE breed this insanity,
Whilst the candle of life continues burning,
This solitary world is endlessly turning,

Propagation of fear leads to pain and despair,
As our governments greed leaves a stale stench in the air,
Yet, as disgustingly trivial as the solution must be,
We blindly march on, unwilling to see.

A nation of puppets, strung up – in a noose,
Trapped, as if prisoners, we take the abuse,
If democracy reigns then why is it true,
That the opinions of many, are ignored by a few?

Our virtues left dangling, hanging by threads,
As we sit back, defeated by the propaganda we’re fed,
Whilst soldiers lay dying, there’s no real end in sight!
Is it really the fight for freedom, or the freedom to fight?

I dont claim to be an expert on government policy but its simply how i feel. I, as a british guy, believe that the war is illegal and it should never have happened but it deeply annoys me that some people spend more time opposing our troops actions rather than showing compassion for the people who are giving their lives on a daily basis for an establishment that they remain patriotic to, their nation... i'll continue to oppose the war, but for the soldiers that selflessly obey their ridiculous goverments orders i'll always have respect.

Nice! The RFT is a Forum for EXPRESSION..... which you have done nicely. You are ALWAYS welcome to EXPRESS yourself IN HERE..... through WORDS or POETRY. That is WHY this forum will become the most popular over time. We are a band of BROTHERS and SISTERS...... WE are ONE.

Thanks.

Dave

It's not the soldier, it's the leader who needs questioning. Take note, that now, facing mid-mid-term elections, our fearless leader is pushing the ban on same sex marriage, instead of the war he himself started. And why? Well, because he's probably not as dim as he looks. The war in iraq is costing us lives and time and more money then anyone can count. If you were the guy who, for reasons that still remain unclear, dragged us into a quagmire that may even be larger in size and scope than Vietnam, and with far deadlier consequences, would you want to remind the voters of it?

Probably not.

What he's really hoping is that our men in uniform don't catch on...

Well.... I think they are too late for that. If my military contacts in Iraq are correct, there is already beginning a underground movement of dissension and anger on the troop level.

Time will tell.

Just one opinion.

The recent war in Iran debate inspired me to write

Silent victories, bravely fought,
Hidden armies left distraught,
Death, destruction without thought,
Angry little world.

Mutilation, suffocation,
Remnants of a ruined nation,
Ultimate annihilation,
Angry little world.

P.s. Hey Dave, lovin' your work!

An endless war
Children women dead
Hadjees dispatched
With great anger

Dwelling anger. In the pit of the soul of buddies blown away on patrol.
They come back
Are killing themselves in great numbers

Who will soothe the souls?
Who wil solve the politics?

Is oil for blood not apparent?

Great work people. Just had to chime in.
