I am a major Hippy Music fan (But NOT a Hippy!),
There is a song I hear from time to time, I don't have it, but always looking for it. I can't even remember it after I heard it!! It's something about the desert...And it's not "Fire and Rain" by James Taylor.

Hippy Bands I Like:
America
Three Dog Night
Emerson, Lake Palmer
Three Dog Night
The 5th Dimenson
Crosby, Stills, Nash, Young
The Moody Blues

and many many others..........

Talk to me.

Godz, there is nothing wrong with being a hippy. Ive been one ever since I can remember even though now I look like an insurance salesman.

I just played a gig out at a roadhouse on rt. 66 and it was filled with Mountian hippys diggin tunes by the likes of the...

the Dead
Doors
Strawberry alarm Clock
Steppenwolf
Jefferson Airplane
The Seeds
Hot Tuna
Jimi Hendrix

You must like Three Dog nite, You listed them twice.
Sorry, can't help you with the James Taylor tune.

Paz y Amor

edit..you're fixing to get a lot of points; music threads are point magnets.

www.rokyerickson.net...

One of the main reasons their is a thing called " Hippy Music " is the above link. Roky started the whole thing long before Jefferson Pilot and so on. He has probably had one of the strangest lives on earth.

Don't suppose it is Texas Radio & the Big Beat ( The Wasp ) by none other than The Doors?

"out here in the perimeter there are no stars, out here we is stoned.......immaculate"

" we have constructed pyramids in honor of our escaping "

i could be stating the painfully obvious here, but are you sure it isnt "horse with no name" by america? as in " i've been through the desert on a horse with no name"

alott of people think that's a neil young song ( as a neil young fan, it's a painfull ripoff of his vibe)

p.s. what's wrong with being a hippy?

Phish! im not a hippy by any means, but I know and recognize supreme musical talent when I hear it!

I know they are kinda like the "mainstream" hippie band, but seriously, their musical talent is incredible, the way they just go off and jam and are so in tune with each other to be able to do it for so long and keep it fresh and new. There are only a few songs where they used the same jam again in concert, namely You Enjoy Myself, which is still an amazing jam.

Also the String Cheese Incident and Bela Fleck and the Flecktones.

Great call McG,
A couple other bands that fit into this genera are "Widespread Panic" and in a more urban vein, "Sonic Youth."
