Interesting follow up to the discovery of the disk in 2002. Seems they have deciphered how the disk was used and knowledge of its use was lost over the centuries it was used. Turned from a scientific device into a cult object.

A group of German scientists has deciphered the meaning of one of the most spectacular archeological discoveries in recent years: The mystery-shrouded sky disc of Nebra was used as an advanced astronomical clock.

Do they know who had manufactured this device? Possibly a specific gathering of people or of some kind of tribe?

From the article it seems it is northern european in origin. The use of the disk to calculate whether a 13th month needs to be added to keep the lunar calendar in sync with the seasons seems to be its primary purpose.

The researchers consulted Babylonian references to decipher how to use the disk.

The sky disc of Nebra was found near Europe's oldest observatory in Goseck

The artifact itself is very beautiful and seem's to serve some purpose just by viewing it with no knowledge of it's use. The one thing that caught my attention right away was that the symbol's on it do remarkably contain some of the same shapes found in crop circles all over the world.

Just an observation.......
