Well, we have came a long way. Now it's time to choose wich two planes we want to start working with. Underneath I have put all planed that have entered in this "competition".

This is how the voting works

Post here the picture that you want to win

The voting will be simple, the model who gets most votes, wins.

Here are the nominies

Matej

Murmur

Role: 1

Size: 3B

unmanned

Cheap

I had an idea about a small fast drone/ucav that is very cheap and can be launched in large numbers by even very small nations to provide a good air defence against larger airforces. This ucav is small and very fast and agile, with 2 small forward gunpods and with top and bottom 'popup' Metalstorm turrets for anti missle/fighter defence.

Id make the frame from a titanium/aluminium alloy and the panels from carbon -nanotude fibre. Combined with a good radar capable of tracking multiple targets and a parachute for when it runs out of fuel i think it could even the odds when faced with enemy helicopters and bombers.

I'm not really much into aircraft, so this is more like a normal fighter with a radar dish, extra fuel tanks and special paint to make it invisible to radars maybe.

Inexpensive answer to an advanced, heavy air superiority fighter. Projected cost:37 million per unit

Will post possible configurations later.

Sea Snake

I call this Concept 03 or Project "Sea Snake"

so far this is the top view of the aircraft, I haven't gotten around to the other views. Here is the Reference to the Numbers.

2)FSW Switchblad Wings
3)Flaps
4)elevators
5)Nav Beacon/ Taxi Beacon
6)Ailerons
7)Internal gun Cannon

The idea is to combine S-STOL (Super-Short Take-Off and Landing) with air-superiority fighter performance; allowing it to operate from roads to a greater extent than existing equivalent types. This would make it far more survivable if the enemy attempted to attack your airbases. The S-STOL concept allows the aircraft to be far larger (carrying more weapons) than an equivalent powered vertical take-off and landing design (F-35, Harrier, Forger etc). The layout is also inherently super-agile at slower speeds.

The layout also lends itself to low Radar Cross-Section (RCS) with the canted tail surfaces, Thrust Vector Control (TVC) and sloping fuselage –its RCS is likely to be less than the F16’s, particularly from a side aspect.

Another key feature is that the weapons are carried internally in a wide bay between the engines. A typical load would be 6 long range missiles and two dogfight missiles. The forward fuselage has ample space for AESA radar and IRST sensors.

Provisional specification
Weapons: 8 internal hardpoints for any mix of long range (Meteor), medium range (AMRAAM, Derby, R-Darter, MICA-EM) or short range (ARSAAM, IRIS-T, Python-5 or AIM-9X missiles).
Speed: Mach 2
Stealth: Good
Agility: Super-agile at subsonic speeds
Powerplant: 2 x Eurojet EJ200 with 20,000lb st (same as Eurofighter)
Key characteristic: S-STOL performance

It's a toss up for me. I like Matej's design, and the Titan by Monsterhook the best. I think I'd go with the Titan for my vote, simply because I like tailed designs.

I vote Matej, I absolutely love that whole Heinkel wing concept and think it would work superbly with a modern FBW system,

ATS - ShatteredSkies Raven concept.

BTS - Planemans jet trainer.

Before you vote please give some consideration about how you are going to develop the design - does anyone here know any evaulation methods for impulse jets? For forward swept wing/wing root structures - internal fuel volume? for tail-less control techniques and implementations?

It is all very good having a superb idea and lovely drawing, but if all we can do is look at it and say, "that's nice", there is little point to the whole project.
