I've had that happen, sometimes quite often. Many of those explanations sound plausible to me.

But, I've also had that same feeling every now and then, while wide awake. A sudden small internal jerk as if I were falling.
What could this be?

yea that happens to me a lot, it irritates me immensely because it usually happens right as i've just fallen asleep. I'll feel like i'm falling and then a BIG jerk and i have to work to fall back asleep. very annoying, regardless of the reason that it happens.

on a similar note: this is kind of funny, but also weird. when i was younger, i remember a few times a week I had the distinct sensation of my bed literally being spun around slowly. And, I promise I'm being serious. I saw snap, krackle, and pop (the rice crispy guys) were the ones spinning my bed around. Granted it could have been a dream, but it happened so often, and the sensations were so real. I was in a semi-conscious state, not totally sleeping, not totally awake. I know how stupid it sounds, lol. I've never heard anybody speak about sensations like that (unless they are drunk, and I assure you at ages 5-9 i wasn't a drinker, haha) any thoughts?
