Basically, it is when a group of people (The Omega Agency, the Illuminati, the U.N. or maybe our own government if Patriot II gets past) will create a global police state and rule the world with one government, one languange, and perhaps one religion.

The NWO is really not a group of people but an agenda held by different groups of people. Once you identify them you can research each one independently.
