Dude... more than one person...

I always think George is the long standing grandaddy of all the funk goodness that is funk and nothing but the funk as he's been grinding funk the longest.

Be he began with Calven Simon, Grady Thomas, Ray Davis, and the esteemed Fuzzy Haskins.

And Majic, no righteous peddler of funk wore platforms or polester in the disco era.

And damn, if I wasn't the ONLY white guy at the Funkadelic concert!!!

duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuude!

Now that's cool!

Hrm... have no idea... will need to guess...
I suppose the best for proper funk inspiration would be... um... a rum... that's the best I've got.

heh, yeah, it was cool, and I had a great time with them. Believe it or not, I am one of two people on the planet that is holding on to an entire album of stuff they did, still unreleased because of a change in Armand's plans (Westbound Records). And I am the only one that has the hi res files, for they transferred it out of here on 16-bit ADATs. I got the 24-bit files.

Anyway, the answer is: (drum roll)

Just in case your majestic skepticism should try to take over, SkepticO, I took this shot a minute ago after digging up the masters. What you are looking at are the original developmental tapes of the project they brought into my studio when they started. They left them here and never took them, because they got a whole set of newly recorded tapes.

Further notes:
A few of the tunes reached track counts of over 100! They have insane amounts of vocals and intstruments layered, and one tune I think had like 52 tracks of just vocals! It took them 12 adats (96 tracks) to get the multi track project transferred, and this was AFTER condensing it down from a total of a whopping 114 tracks on one song. Phew.

Anyway, yeah these are one-of-a-kind tapes, a part of music history from an act that's in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Hope you enjoy. I have plenty more info if you'd like.

Oh, and I believe that is Fuzzy's handwriting.

Awe, cmon SO, I did that just for you. You making me feel bad now.

I guess that means you don't want me to show you the FUBU jeans Calvin gave me, or the VIP backstage pass I have to a concert they did here at the Variety Playhouse? Ok, sorry, guess not. I will go now, as per your wishes.

I may have to end it with the next SkepticOverview, and roll the points into the award for the next one.
