As you probably guessed from the thread title, I have an idea for a flamethrower that could be about the same size as Desert Eagle handgun.

I am not sure if I should post the plans. I am not going to test it until it is fully safe, and it will be from a very safe distance, about 150m.

It is designed to be a small tank killer, sometimes a soldier can get close to a tank and has to throw a grenade in or risk shooting some rounds in. But with my design, they could just pull on the trigger and everyone inside gets fried. As with the M203, I think this could be underslung on a weapon.

I just wanted to know if anyone thought this is a good idea, or has it been done already? I couldnt find any in my searches.

Zanz if you're in the UK don't experiment - it'd be a possible firearms offence - either 6 months or 5 years mandatory jail sentence depending on how they view it.

Even publishing plans will get you prosecuted (a guy got jail for posting a home-made 9mm sub machine gun a year or so ago - in Newcastle(??)

Strange times nowadays but this not something I'd try at anytime!

Dam!! Oh well then, I might as well explain my idea anyway, I was playing around with a water pistol one day and my little bro and his friend were playing war with thiers, I got soked and went inside, I came back out and they were pretending to use them as flamethrowers. Then it hit me.

If I could make a 'water pistol' out of metal and make it heat resistant I could effectively have a flamethrower. The fuel would go in the tank bit on the back, when the triggers pressed it flies out the front and is ignited by a butane torch or something along those lines.

It obviously wouldnt be able to sustain fire for very long, a few secs maybe, but probably enough to take down a tank crew, or at least make them bale out and surrender.

Thanks for that man, I could have been in the dog dooies there!!

There was a fellow who made a larger flamethrower than what you're talking about.

I've got the instructions to make a water version of it, but i'm sure any aspiring weapon specialist could modify it quite easily.
I'll U2U it to anyone who wants it.

No worries mate.

The way UK law is going it's all getting very dodgy - old Home Guard leaflets could be viewed as terrorist materials etc etc! Not a good time to tinker with any gun-type thing, (or run !)

I'm not sure flame would worry an MBT anyway, with over pressure systems etc it's unlikley to harm it. A WP grenade would give you an effect not far off and would be much safer but probably not a good idea - what range would you get?

To convince the infantry it'd have to have a range of 800M+ and be first-time kill.

supersoaker + bbq lighter ?

lol

"flame throwers" seem pointless to me.

Unless its some sort of napalm.

Oh, but it was 'some kind of' napalm. It was my own home made stuff, works great as well!!
