IDK, they had the Vatican on the show and all them catholics were bowing down before the Shroud, and a copy of the Last Supper, why they have a copy IDK, think the people who make over 100billion dollars a year could buy the real thing.

Anyways, on the show it just mentioned Shroud day was on the 4th of May, and then showed the people at the vatican bowing down before it, people crying at the "mircale" of christ, stuff like that. Quite sad really, that Leonardo has gotten away with such a great hoax, all before the time of "Sucker born every minute" and Fox News.

After Leo the next great genius would have to be either Ben Franklin or maybe Galileo, he did so much to get us out from the churches control by pushing forth the truth, until they threatened to kill him....

Edit: Also, Leonardo had a telescope before Galileo, for Leonardo thought he should know everything possible, geology, astronomy, biology(in a time disecing humans was banned by the church he was somehow able to get human corpses to disect.....) and any other ology you can think of.

From what I've been able to find on it, the shroud has only been displayed 3 times in the last century and won't be shown again until 2025. Don't know what you saw but it doesn't happen every year.

I do not remember if anyone in this discussion has pointed the link to the official site:

Sidone

a lot of questions such as if it is venerated or the official position of the Catholic church is found there.

It is funny that Da Vinci was way ahead of his time and used a camera obscura to fake... I mean make the shroud of turin. It also explains why the head is proportionatly out of place, because he added his own face (the details) after the body was "photographed". Anyone studied in Da Vinci understands this and is the main reason that religion is not debated among true Da Vinci students. Look up the camera obscura for more details

Much of the Shroud's history before 1357 is uncertain. It is most likely the story of how the Edessa Cloth came to the city of Edessa, was discovered in the city walls about 544, was moved to Constantinople in 944, disappeared from Constantinople in 1204, and remained unaccounted for until 1357...

Somehow, and at sometime, a cloth, with what was believed to be the image of Jesus, turned up in Edessa. Legend tells us it was brought to King Abgar V, the ruler of Edessa, by one of Jesus' disciples, perhaps Thaddeus Jude (Addai).

What is not legend is that the cloth, with an image of what everyone then believed was an image of Jesus, was discovered in the walls of the city in the sixth century. In 525 CE during repairs of the city walls, or, more likely, in 544 CE during a Persian invasion of the city, the cloth was recovered and placed in a church built especially for this sacred cloth.

In 944, Emperor Romanus I sent an army to remove the Edessa Cloth and transfer it to his capitol in Constantinople. There it remained until 1204 when it disappeared during the sacking of the city by the crusaders of the Fourth Crusades.

There is good evidence that the Edessa Cloth was taken to Athens. Then, about 150 years later the Shroud was displayed in Europe for the first time in the small town of Lirey, France.
