From yesterday:

Sad news tonight #ufotwitter. The old RAAF airbase in Roswell, New Mexico is on fire and historic sites like Hangar 84 are in danger of being lost 😔.

Twitter

Cherry on top… or should I say UFO on top in this picture:

They going scorched earth covering up sites?

Which "they"?

Us or some other entities?

Conspiracies within conspiracies…

They've come for their boys !

Seemingly the departing UFO is the culprit , guess they don't know Roswell is no longer used.

The Roswell Base is now an Extension of Eastern New Mexico University. Or it was....

Had to lookup "Roswell Air Center Fire".

www.koat.com...

It seems it was on the air center property, but the damage was contained to a building storing chemicals on the East side of the property.

Link has good videos on incident.

This tweet is misleading.

That image is actually taken from the airfield.

This building burnt.

* Two sets of street view images. (2016, 2022) Water tower built after 2016. Older Red/White tower prior. Picture taken from Challenger/Mathis area on map. That angle. Tower in foreground of burning building.

A warning shot then , perhaps our Alien overlords aren't so evil after all.

We still best give them their boys back though.

You are incorrect saying "this tweet is misleading."

Tweet is local reporter. Nothing misleading, it is old base - now owned by private business.

Showed pic of building on fire. It is near hangar 84 here is pic showing the hanger in relation to fire.

All info in tweet was factual.

Building burned owned by aero something or another. It’s in the tweeter thread I linked. I will get it:

What I mean by misleading is not the words but the imagery. It makes it read like historical structures were threatened, and that was a view looking towards the hangers, not away from them, with the airstrip at your back.

It gives a sensationalized impression that leads one to believe there is a threat to historical buildings, or that more of the base is engulfed. That's all.

The hanger 84 was in the direction the wind and fire was blowing. Look at the pic. Directly in the path.

So it was threatened. They just got it under control quickly/effectively.

In the Hawaii recent devastation they weren’t so lucky. The winds whipped the fire and destroyed the town.

It is interesting an aerospace company was burned… going back to conspiracy theories. We’ve been told the parts and craft were given out to independent contractors to study. This could be one such contractor. Their clientele specifies "government entities."

Maybe the building was storing volatile aluminum paint for the planes still on base?
The desert environment hasn't gotten any better for planes since the 70's.
There is an aviation museum nearby.

Excuse my cheesy annotations, but I actually don't know which one is Hanger 84, and can't find a map of RAAF to confirm.

I know the camera position and which way the fire was burning. Is Hanger 84 the top large one or smaller one?

Refined angle based on assumption of Hanger 84.

Glad the wind wasn't higher.

I do not know the area, but after trying to figure it out based on Apple Maps I think you are accurate based on the water tower which is under the "VU" in "CAVU" on your map. And Ophi’s selection of hanger 84.

Without looking at your map I picked almost exact same area.

There seems to be inconsistency, Apple Maps puts aersale down to the left, off the map you posted, while it shows up on the upper right of your google map. Maybe they own multiple buildings?
