And as I slept I dreamed.

I discovered a thing and started to write
on a parchment suitable for hanging.
When close to finishing
I had a thought and took another parchment.

"I should get up and write this in the waking"
but it was already written and
I could simply pick up where I had left off.

And as I was finishing,
another discovery,
another parchment.

"I should get up and write this in the waking"
but it was already written and
I could simply pick up where I had left off.

When I got up and went to my computer
and opened the word processor
there was only the cursor blinking
at the top of the blank page
and now I don't remember the last line.

Is it written somewhere for another to find
in some way, shape, or form?
I really hope so.
It did seem rather important.

They say you can't read when you're dreaming. In fact that is one way you can tell you are dreaming, try to read if there is writing available. Try as hard as you can, you won't be able to figure out the words. This I have tried and found to be quite accurate. I wonder if it is also impossible to write while dreaming. I never recall trying.

I wonder if it is also impossible to write while dreaming.

There is the going through the motions.

Mostly it is the feeling of doing something important.
At times if I do wake up, I can recall one line, like words already in my mouth.

Yeah, dreams aren't all that reliable.

Yeah, that's exactly what it feels like, "Can I just get a look at that?"

I think it must be about wishes.

I wish I knew how to say
the right thing,
in just the right way
to the right person
to make a difference
for the better.

"In your dreams!"

I like things that make me think about them and re-read them. That got me thinking about the hypnagogic and Hypnopompic for some reason.
In real life I often get stuck for a fitting last line.

That was great pthena!

Good one, pthena!

Yep, same process in my dreams; like others, can't read and write... surreal.

However, daydreaming, a five minute nap leaves the memories fresh enough to jot them down on waking.

I have pen and paper at the ready beside my bed

Hey! That's a good idea.

First I tried markers
but I got tired of re-painting my walls.

Then I tried crayons
but scrubbing took the paint off.

Now I have a whiteboard mounted over my bed
and dry erase markers scattered about.

That's working pretty well
except when I forget to put the caps back on.

Oh well, it doesn't hurt
to wash sheets and blankets more often.

You know what I forgot to do?

The End

hypnagogic and Hypnopompic

Yes. Threshold consciousness.
I looked it up. Mistook the hypnagogic for sleep learning.

This one time I fell asleep on the couch with the TV on.
A Presidential speech came on just as I was walking around in a dark parking lot looking for the truck I had borrowed. The President was lecturing away while following me around. I just couldn't ditch him.

What I learned: Turn the TV off before napping.

Napping: The key to understanding the Universe.
Well, as it sleeps at least.

Very much enjoyed this!

It left me feeling sad, but that's not always a bad thing, as sadness also shows you something. Dreams are another world, imo. I often dream about people I don't know. It bothers me, because I wonder upon awakening if I have intercepted someone else's dreams.

Well done!
