Are you mining crypto?

That must be a rhetorical question. Clearly I have given too much away.

That was my second guess.
There are only 2 reasons to use Xeon CPUs outside of server farm situations .

Got to do something with those idle clock cycles now that SETI@Home is no longer a thing.
Plus a nice wallet full of unstable crypto may be useful of if the value ever peaks in an extraordinary way.

In my instance this whole server cost me less to build then just the CPU of anything AMD.

And once did a bit of mining at home until I learned how much it was hurting the gaming community .
Dual CPUs , a boat load of RAM , 2 interconnected Nvidia Tesla cards
Want to guess the hash rate of that one ?

Do you mean by inflating the GPU costs. #, if I was doing this for any sort of profit I would go full blown ASIC miners. Save on the 4090's for the gamers.

36 megahash

That all depends on the crypto and hash algorithm though.

Edit KiloHash lol mega hash haaa I wish.

I don't think I could come close. I used to mine a while back when I would purchase broken Antminers (S1, S3) and fixed them cheap. I was still in the high Mhash so i will venture that you are in the 35TeraHash range.

lmk how far off I am.

So far off I dont even want to stake a claim to it.

This is cpu only. I guess I should have stated that from the beginning.
My pool is at 2.6 Gigahash worldwide.

Thanks for this refreshing thread .
Don't get offended , but you remind me of an old friend and colleague from work .
We used to do the same as this thread to each other . Put forward either what if , or real time, scenarios to each other and play "what's the reason and the fix ?"

No worries, I was pretty sure I shot for the moon on that one. My rack of Antminers was very hard on Power Supplies and kept my workshop quite toasty in the winter and was unbearable in the summer and super loud 12 Antminers each with their own loud cooling fans, eventually moved them to the loft in my garage until I retired them as they eventually burnt out past the point of being worth repair and my electric bill which was partially offset by solar finally got to feel like i was jsut paying installments on a Btc purchase. Essentially that's what happens, you trade a whole lot of electricity usage for a piece of a coin. I moved to another state and never set them back up again just before the pandemic started. Sold off the ones that worked and have a few in a junk pile here now.

Good luck on your mining.

Its just a supplement, I figure that If this coin ever goes high I can just sell off what I have and make something off of it.

If i had a pile of asics I could benefit cause this is monero and is relatively easy compared of bitcoin. I don't have to pay for the power so this is a win.

I figure stack the coins from empty cpu cycles and worry about the profit when and if it comes up in the world.

Thank you.

XMRig. High performance, open source, cross platform RandomX, KawPow, CryptoNight and GhostRider CPU/GPU miner, RandomX benchmark and stratum proxy.

You're doing the GhostRider...

Raptoreum?

Raptoreum was founded back in 2018 and had been in Testnet/Development for nearly 3 years before Genesis block on February 26th 2021.

The RTM coin uses a custom hashing algorithm called Ghostrider. Ghostrider randomly switches algorithms with the aim of discouraging mass ASIC & FPGA mining which the project says is to increase overall decentralization.

The Raptoreum Futures Code is live and is activated at block 420420.

What do i win?

I said 892. Not 982.

But yeah, I see the posts now... Mining... ok.

Well playing "Bullet for my Valentine" should not be causing 100% CPU load, that's a given.

Different kettle of fish but Ive got a Ryzen 3600 that used to experienced issues with 100% CPU load.

But that turned out to be an issue with the power plan and was resolved by setting the min/max processor state to 99% as opposed to 100%.
