It definitely is one of the best films of all time and that is one of the best scenes in that film.

Won't hear a bad word said about Clint, my favourite actor along with Daniel-Day Lewis.

I felt that this was worth adding: The original Old Boy which is part of the Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance trilogy. The Koreans really make some killer movies!

Loved those films. Good choice.

You left out
"The Great Escape"

youtu.be...

OK that is a great choice but I would argue out of that era's movies the Italian Job (Michael Caine version) just pip's it.

Definitely dig the Great Escape talk about a fantastic ensemble cast. Hell, I watch it just to see McQueen in the motorcycle chase. James Garner and Donald Pleasant were excellent in it, always liked Ives and Hilt's relationship. MacDonald blowing thier cover by a trick he told others to watch out for.

Seeing as I only picked one and most others gave a list I've decided to join in the rule breaking and add a few more...

Kind hearts and Coronets - Alec Guinness way before Obi Wan.
The Lady Killers (original one).
Happiest Days of your life + The Green Man (Alistair Sim).

Once upon a time in China.
New Dragon Gate Inn.
Iron Monkey.

Ju On : White Ghost/Black Ghost.

Primer.
Tomorrow I'll get up and scald myself with hot tea (Czech time travel comedy)

Dance of the Vampires.
Videodrome.
They Live.
Barbarella.
Logans Run.

Also...Chopper.
Ghosts of the Civil Dead.

and I still love the Carry On films but usually keep that to myself.

Re: Primer

Have you seen the illustrated breakdown...
www.youtube.com...

For those who have not seen the movie the breakdown won't spoil anything. In fact, it'll inspire you to see the movie, so you get to understand the explanation.

I haven't seen it but thank you for that. I've saved it for later.
Watched the movie several times and thought it was incredible.
Will be good to see another perspective on it because no one I know even heard of it when I ask.

I have a taste for strange films .

You are correct! I did mean the original evil dead.. I actually went to imdb before I posted but for some reason forgot that bit of info when I wrote up my post.

I also forgot a movie..

That is very esoteric.

It's main character is still an inspiration in my writing process..

Trying to find that sweet spot in the explicit and the inferred..

Although I tend to beat you over the head with one direct notion while trying to subtly imply an emotion that evokes a certain "necessity of askewness"

But I digress..

The character is

Chauncey Gardner played by Peter Sellers

Also starring Shirley McLane as Eve Rand

And the movie is called

Being There (1979)

And He was .. and He was not..

I highly recommend it..

Respectfully,
~meathead
