Waking up my Students

Pretty much everyone I know here, my co workers, friends, wife, and all of my students (except 1 I can think of) over the past year are pro vaccines. It seems nobody in Colombia has a clue what's happening around the world. There isn't much talk here about vaccine passports, yet. But of course covid cases are being blamed on the unvaxxed.

Everyone here is super focused on corruption, which is natural, I guess. Every other day something nasty is being exposed and promptly swept under the rug.

But after watching the protest videos on the other thread I figure I should do something. So I'm gonna teach English lessons tomorrow on the mass protests that are going on. Hopefully wake some people the eff up.

Sorry things in your neck of the woods don't sound much better than where I'm at... better to be active in organizing and educating others rather than stay silent/passive and allow these totalitarian states to progress unabated

Do you job and don't interfere and you might get through it.
Don't let them ask you push the narrative either, though. That's not your job.

Yeah Im taking a risk. I'm testing the waters I guess but It's not the first time we have discussed protests in class.

Well, I don't agree with this (no offense to RookQueen. I have no doubt that some will appreciate what you've done, but when they take their new position home with them and explain why they've adopted this new position, then you will see how unappreciated your efforts are.

Veterans often apply for a certain disability rating for injuries sustained while serving. This is quite a process that I've helped many of my fellow veterans with, and there is one abiding rule that I always drill in their heads. Make a strong and straight connection between your present injury and how that was obtained in your course of service (it doesn't have to be immediate, so injuries worsen with time). So if your knees are going out, don't just say my knees hurt, relate it to your time as a paratrooper (very hard on the knees). I say the above to say if you want to use the protests in your class, and you're an English teacher, make certain that you tie the material back to the subject. Thereby you're not showing the students the thing to further an agenda, but simply using it as a tool/lesson that furthers their understanding of your stated subject matter. My sister got her Ph.D. in English, and she concentrated in Rhetoric. This had a lot to do with war, she studied WWII very much and how specifically Rhetoric was used in the cause of war (either side). This might be something you explore in order to "justify" your decision in the classroom.

No offense taken Mirror. You could be right.....I think your point is completely valid and should be considered. I did say appreciated at the end of all this meaning it may not be appreciated initially. I am sure Tucket will experience blow-back if he decides to proceed but until we stop being afraid of said blow-back I am not sure how we are going to defeat this socialist agenda being rammed down our throats daily. War is not a pretty thing and we are in a war right now.....imo.
I will say Tucket please be aware of the hell you may be calling down upon yourself if you do decide to do this

If you want to take this topic further, try www.c19study.com. Then compare it with the FDA website on these treatments that only looks into 15 or so studies and concludes there is not enough evidence.

When the students realize there are treatments for covid that are safer and more effective at stopping covid than this forced medical experimentation, but are being suppressed it should snap a few more out of their slumber and help them understand why more and more people are standing up against the way things are going.

Well, if anyone is still following the thread, I did follow through with the activity and it seemed to go well. Kept it simple. Showed them the video of the mass protests. Basically none of the students knew about them. So i just gave them some discussion questions related to the plandemic and tried to keep as unbiased as I could.
