This sounds like it could be promising in certain applications.

The Di Pietro motor concept is based on a rotary piston. Different from existing rotary engines, the Di Pietro motor uses a simple cylindrical rotary piston (shaft driver) which rolls, without any friction, inside the cylindrical stator. The space between stator and rotor is divided in 6 expansion chambers by pivoting dividers. These dividers follow the motion of the shaft driver as it rolls around the stator wall. The motor shown is effectively a 6 cylinder expansion motor.

Angelo di Pietro is a former Mercedes Benz experimental engineer, so i assume he knows what he is talking about.

I just hope he does not get bogged down Australian government 'red tape'.

I wonder how well does it stack up against the Quasiturbine

quasiturbine.promci.qc.ca...

My first impression is that Di Pietro engine has a less complex design, thats good.

Countermeasures, thanks for the link

What i think the main advantage of the Di Pietro motor is the fact that it has no spark plug or glow plug, so there is no need for combustible fuel.

That so called 'new' motor is almost identical to a Vane Compressor (often used in large air conditioning units) except running in reverse.
Looking at the video it runs on compressed gas (alright air) so its not really viable for anything except for static use i.e. needs an air line or has to lug a gas cylinder around with itself.

Ummm...Sanctum, I think you have it backwards. It uses no combustible fuel so it has no need for a spark plug. But you are right it is a cool motor.
