I would never have said golf and tennis are fun to watch.

I have played soccer for 37 years, love playing, still do, just can't watch it. My other sport I play is disc golf and I watch that on YouTube all the time.

It goes against American culture in every way. ...If there was an official sport of the Commuinst party then soccer would definitely be it.

I enjoyed your provocative post very much...

...but you do know soccer is a massive, lightly regulated, fairly free market? Buyers, managers, teams are bought and sold freely. There is no draft. You know, that highly regulated, equitable distribution of wealth, socialistic thing you yanks have with NFL. I think you are confusing American values with a short attention span.

The Eastern bloc did like football, yes, like everyone else in the world apart from you and the Cubans. Maybe you've just got some butt hurt because the USA is definitely C league at it.

For the record, I agree, it is boring. I can see the tactical side of it - my brother in law took me to the Nou Camp and we sat up in the top tier, where the game looked like an animated battle map - but I'd rather watch rugby.

Soccer has it's tough-guys too:

That's not real. Surely. Apart from the comedy commentary, the medic acts like he found his medical licence in the toilet of a Guatamalan brothel.

Back in Britain, let's not forget Vinnie Jones, and the famous photo of him squeezing Paul Gascoine's testicles.

And Bert Trautmann, who played the FA cup final in goal for Manchester City with a broken neck.

Some of the fans are a mental too. Not just the football hooligans, but people like the Colombian cartels who executed Andres Escobar for letting in too many goals in the World Cup.

Mind you, the rest of them are as soft as shi'ite.

Baseball seems way more boring.

Soccer guys are running around, baseball they just stand there.

Baseball players dont look like they need to be In the greatest shape as well.

I had fun during the world cup.

Watching France win , when half the players were not even French was the perfect world cup win in this current environment

Football (what you call soccer) is without any shadow of doubt the most exciting sport in the world - AT TIMES. It depends on whether the teams playing each other are really going for it AND whether the game actually means something important.

I can tell you now - there is simply nothing in American football, baseball (rounders), basketball, ice hockey or any other well supported American sport than can come close to comapring to a good English FA Cup semi final or final (or even an earlier round game) or an end of seaon league game during the run in when the title is up for grabs. I do concede, however, that football is less often exciting these days than it used to be. Too many foreigners in the English game has somewhat ruined it.

Yeah.

I remember the glory days of watching Sheffield United and Brentford flop around to a damp nil-nil win on The Big Match on a Sunday afternoon. Youngsters these days don't know what football is.

There were always boring games and will be until the game isn;t played anymore.
But an exciting game of football beats all.
A lot of the passion is gone from the game however because of too many foreigners.
I'd like to see a limit come back when we leave the EU. Two per squad max.

I don’t care if the U.S. is good in soccer. We could win the World Cup and I wouldn’t watch or care. I actually cheer against us because it would be a big deal for another country to win it so it isn’t fair for us to win and not care when it would be meaningful for a country that doesn’t have other sports.

Isn't football (soccer) already the biggest sport in America? I am not talking about what's on TV or where the money is. I am talking about sport in the truest sense - participation.
