AOC says world will end in 12 years if we dont address climate change

I find this type of rhetoric fascinating and highly disturbing.

Now first, I am willing to gove AOC the benefit of the doubt that perhaps she was speaking hyperbolically, and doesnt think the world will end in 12 years.

However, my guess based on statements about climate change she has made, and the fact she says its millennials ww2 leads me to believe she does in fact believe the world will end in a relatively short time if climate change is not addressed.

I have heard this from many other people as well.

It is important to note that she now has power, and is making this claim, and more people in power may agree with her.

What I have experinced with people making thes etypes of arguments is often they presnt very little evidence for their apocalyptic assertion, and instead say its a scientific consensus and if you dont believe them you are anti science.

While I do agree there is a scientific consensus (for all practical purposes) that the climate is changing, and that humans have an impact on that change, that seems to be where the consensus ends.

Questions like how much change is occurring, how much are humans responsible, how bad could things get, how soon will they get that bad, is there anything that could be done to change those impacts, etc., do not seem to have a consensus, and are serious issues we should all be discussing.

Yet often these discussions are ignored in favor of juts shouting there is a consensus.

Now here is where the danger comes in.

Lets say you are absolutely sure the world is years away from ending. So sure that you are not up for debating anyone who disagrees.

BHow far would you be willing to go to save the world?

Would you take peoples personal property? Would you limit what they could consume? Would you ban certain fuels and jobs?

Would you lock up people that interfered with you?

I bet not only would many people really do that if they thought the world depended on it, they would do far worse.

What atrocities would be off limits if there was true belief that by not committing them the world would end?

What if we find that unless the population of the world is halved very soon, humans will cause the destruction of the world thru climate change?

This is the danger with this type of mentality that AOC is showing. Its almost cult like.

She knows the world is ending because of cklimate change, its her WW2, and just like in WW2 extreme measures need to be taken.

We saw how orwellian her "Green new deal" was. But what if that isnt enough? Well the the governmenbt will need more power, and more persoanl liberty must be taken.

This is the problem with this type of socialism; its starts off with good inetntions, but all of the sudden all sorts of atrocities are committed for the greater good.

And all based on an apocalyptic prediction with very little evidence for that you are unwilling to have be questioned.

There were other leaders who felt almost the exact way.

Mao and Stalin come to mind.

Lets hope AOC explains herself that she doesnt really believe the world will end in that hsort of a period. If not, she is indeed a very dangerous person in my opinion.

AOC is an ignorant, low iQ, moron; I do not mean these terms as insults but statements of fact.
What she has going for her is an above average ability to manipulate fellow morons.

The world has had some major upheaval in the past, yet we are still here.

The problem is the fragile environment that we have become totally dependent upon.

The loss of our communications and power grids would cripple our current way of life, but we would survive, albeit at vastly lower numbers.

I guess we're just deleting threads now, huh mods?

If there's a bookie out there taking bets on this, I don't care what the odds are, I'm all in.

The only way the world is going to end in twelve years is if a big asteroid hits it or we blow it up. I can see a hundred years if we do not get less destructive on the ecosystem, but not twelve. In fifty years mankind could be suffering if we keep poisoning the planet, the main culprit that will destroy things is nuclear bombs and unnatural or concentrated natural chemistries.

Fracking is going to cause a real lot of problems because of how widespread it is. I do not think we should be doing so much Fracking, man is poor at slowly integrating things and then looking at the big picture when evaluating expansion of the industries. We need to evaluate energy flow changes going through the earths crust better.

WE do need to be conservative, get all those jets out of the air. I think mother nature is going to do that for us, wild weather will make travel way more difficult in the future.

Always find it amusing how the far left ignore science and reason while espousing science and reason. They reject and bury the reasoned and measured solutions to carbon reduction from actual scientists like the Project Drawdown proposals. Why? Simply because those reasoned and measured proposals don't support the hysteria they are trying to create to scare not so swift people into giving government total control over you and your money. Also, of the one hundred real-world, currently viable ideas they are proposing a global carbon tax scheme can't be found anywhere on the list.

Of course it is,its how the left rallies the left rallies its base, this is the Dems fear mongering 3.0 cause we didn't get nuclear war with North Korea, or a collapsing economy and lost world trade. Now its the world is gonna end in 12 years. Got news for anybody who believes that naive BS if the world is truly just 12 years from its end, we are already beyond the tipping point, the point of no return. LOL notice they keep the years down really low to create the sense of urgency at all costs. If this is the Democrats call for voters it shows how truly desperate they are, and how they have absolutely no answers how to govern for a world that isn't on the brink and last longer than 12 years. I'll be 65 and more concerned about my retirement or if i can retire at a 70% tax rate.
