For those into statistics, and many are, it doesn't get any better. Klein thought it was bad at 400, and the Walmart figure is awesome, for a bean counter.
And the mods will move it as they deem.

Sorry but,
I run a business.
Employees are incredibly lazy. Don't care about hearing how some work after hours blah blah blah.
99% of you would have psychological meltdowns after year 1 of trying to run a successful, scaling company. Try and get most to even work an hour over or on weekends and they have a total sob story as to why they cant blah blah blah.
I completely understand why the pay is the way it is for many.

My employees work 21 days on, 10 off. They are paid 90k salary with free health care to start. They owe the business 210 hours a month. Generally they run about 250. They work in the oil field... not a place for the faint at heart.
They live 800 miles from where we work. Their gas to and from home is paid and they get a company truck when they are on site. Housing is provided.
They have no problem staying a day later, coming back a day sooner. They work around our build dates. In return, I let them leave early on their last day for the drive back, buy an occasional steak dinner and make sure that any days they NEED off are worked into the schedule. Any personal issues are solved between everyone. They are happy and productive and so am I. We are a multi-million dollar company with 11 people and expanding.
Perhaps the business you are running doesn't work. Perhaps you just don't have the skills to work with employees or putting a good team together. Perhaps you suck at picking your employees. There are troubles with the current new working generation, I give you that.
But just saying EVERYONE is lazy and incompetent is a cop out.
Look in the mirror and work on it yourself. Then remember for every 10 lazy bastards there is one jewel in the rough. Find them. Then make it work.

The problem is clearly your attitude.
The key is they are employees NOT Robots.
There is a limit to the work you can get out of someone. Plenty of studies have shown that 45 hours is the upper limit of what most people can take over a long period of time. Between 45 and 55 hours productivity then drops off to the point the extra hours do not increase productivity. Beyond that then the extra hours are counter productive and you get a loss of productivity to the point you will get less work out of say 60 hour weeks over 3 months than you would if you just got them doing normal 40 hours shifts.
That is not because people are lazy, its because we all have a limit to how much work we can do before our health suffers.
It comes down to the old saying "work smarter, not harder".
And this encompasses vac cation days as wel, giving less holidays is actually a false economy. It is why most country's set the legal minimum at 28 days or even in country that don't have minimums, a lot of company's set at around 28 days as it actually increases productivity beyond if you gave less or no holiday.
This comes from someone who owed a successful business for 3 years and went by the above methods not because I was "nice" but because I wanted maximum productivity, which meant treating employees like humans not robots.

That's the biggest HS lie ever. Oil field workers scam the system routinely by filing for unemployment for the times the business is slow. You are probably the one that helps them scam the system too.
