Governor Scott Walker released his Weekly Radio Address today titled “Wisconsin’s 100% Reduction in the State Property Tax.”

This year, you may notice something new on your property tax bill: a big zero under the state portion of the total property tax. That’s because our state budget completely eliminates the state property tax levy.
That’s right: 100% of Wisconsin taxpayers will see a 100% reduction on their state property tax bill.
Now, as promised, property taxes will be lower in 2018 than they were when we took office in 2010, adding up to nearly $3,000 in savings for a typical household. In fact, property taxes as a percentage of personal income are at their lowest levels since World War II.
Wisconsin’s budget finished the fiscal year that ended June 30 with a $579 million surplus, $126 million more than expected and the fourth-largest surplus of the past two decades.
The amount was higher than expected mostly because agencies spent about $116 million less than they were authorized to spend.

I live in Wisconsin and my area is more fiscally responsible than anywhere I have ever lived. My property tax has decreased five years in a row, yet my house is gaining value.
Coming from Illinois the bar was real low though.
Because of the growth we've had in the budget, because of the positive economy, the fact that more people are working than before - all those things put us in a good position. I wish New Jersey would do that. Not only do I have to foot the bill for the mooches in Trenton but I have to pay for other cities in my county because they're broke too.
