Fair enough. I was speaking more to what was offered. What I would think and say if presented with this in conversation.

Who cares if he's friends with Putin? After the cold war, it's actually refreshing to have a good relationship with Russia. It means less death, and possibly a powerful ally in the future. We have other fish to fry now, like Islam. America and Russia have common interests in the annihilation of ISIS and any other terrorist group, that doesn't value human or animal life, and will dig down into the darkest recesses of mankind's evil psyche, to gain their ultimate goal....world domination (as Allah demands it, at all cost).
