The Panda and the Snowman

Keepers at Toronto Zoo noticed their Panda , Da Mao , didn't seem to be enjoying the winter weather so decided to build him a snowman for enrichment.
Da Mao was enriched.

So abjectly bored to death a snowball is "enriching'. Imagine being locked in a cage day to day (for life), not knowing what for, or whenever you may be set free.

I hate the zoo.

In all fairness, my bulldog will beat up a snowman for hours, and he has another dog to play with.


But I will agree he needs a friend. They could play king of the mountain on it.

They are not locked in a cage all day.


The sad truth is animals like the Giant Panda are on the brink of extinction and captivity of a few is the only way to save them from extinction.

These animals are captive for revenue. Not for their benefit, for the benefit of the venue owners.

That is so cute. The panda looks bound and determined, to me anyway, to make sure there is nothing hidden inside this new thing that appeared there.

so cute and clumsy, the pandas

their clumsiness makes them so vulnerable, i'm not sure they would survive without human help. so there the zoos do help with their rather intricate mating programs.

and there is good news: the giant panda is for a few weeks now no longer on the list of endangered species. they’re now considered "vulnerable" to extinction.

I can't help it, I love pandas.

I'd like to know more about what happened before the video though.
Did the panda create these balls of snow?
