It's funny to see how the Clinton campaign is trying to blame Comey and the left is screaming racism when the fact is, the Clinton campaign ignored rural white voters who have been strong supporters of Democrats and this is why it's so hard for them to win Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Michigan. It had everything to do with arrogence and elitism.

Trump camped out in Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Florida and he even went to Minnesota. They say the Clinton campaign laughed at Bill Clinton when he said they need to go to places like Wisconsin and target rural voters.

Pace said Bill Clinton was “laughed at and ridiculed by a lot of people in the Clinton campaign.”

She continued, “After the Wisconsin primary when Bill Clinton wanted Hillary to spend more time there they laughed at him. They laughed at him and basically said he’s going after the voters that supported him instead of the ones that she will need. ”

I don't know how any Democrat can be mad at Trump. He just did a better job at campaigning and he targeted the right areas. The Clinton campaign was tone deaf.

Hillary only went for the minority votes, she said to hell with the rest of the country they are deplorables.

They believed their own rhetoric and counted on "ground game" to fudge the turnout in their favor.
Trump didn't have ground game they believed.
Trump was an enemy of Paul Ryan from Wisconsin so that State was in the bag, so they believed.
Trump's rally crowds didn't translate to votes so they believed.
Trump's tireless campaigning into the night, every night, from State to State was desperation, so they believed.

Team Hillary got outplayed.

Trump proved hard work pays off.

There was another post here a while ago that put up a allegedly leaked private speech by Bill. In it he talked about how the working middle class doesn't have any hope anymore. True or not, I don't know. But if it is, and this article is true, then it seems that Bill was one of the few among Hillary's circle that "got it"

The working middle class knows that something is wrong, they weren't going to vote for someone that said there wasn't.

good thread.
Bill is a total sleaze but he's always had great instincts (hence his success). supposedly a week or two before the vote Hillary was touring red states trying to add to democrats in congress. I saw several accounts of Bill trying to emphasize the rural/white working/white vote and getting ignored.
working America must have a skin in the game, and a lot of us did not see Hillary sharing our interests at all.

anyone notice she got gobsmacked in Arkansas, supposedly her long-time home? reminds me of Gore losing Tennessee in 2000. Hillary is NY/DC, not Arkansas.

I've been speaking to people about this. The democrat party departed from traditional labor and economic issues, and went full identity politics. Because of this, "Hillary was a better candidate than Bernie," and "Working and middle class white people have zero grievances and don't need to be heard." This is basically identity politics and tokenism gone wild. Unfortunately for them and the Democrats, most Americans including liberals ARENT raving sjws who think all that matters is race and gender.

I heard in ohio trump got 50% union support. That is huge. Democrats shed white voters every election(execept Obama) as they move further to identity politics.
blue collar union folk are not socialist, heck many of them are conservatives, they only stick with the dems so they can keep the wages they have.

Good points,

The Clinton campaign thought playing identity politics was better than connecting to rural voters which is a big part of the Democrat base.

Trump would have probably beat Obama in 2012 for these same reasons but Republicans nominated Mitt Romney who was seen as a bigger threat to jobs in rural areas than Obama.
