Wikileaks will release a statement about Assange tomorrow (24th October)

Assange can not step outside the Embassy. Security around the building has been replaced with un-uniformed police. As soon as he steps out, they have him. An interview would be nice, but the Embassy won't accomidate that as per their statement...

Ecuador granted political asylum to Julian Assange in 2012 based on his legitimate fears of political persecution because of his journalistic activities as the editor of WikiLeaks. In recent weeks, WikiLeaks has published a wealth of documents, impacting on the U.S. election campaign. This decision was taken exclusively by that organization. The Government of Ecuador respects the principle of non-intervention in the internal affairs of other states. It does not interfere in external electoral processes, nor does it favor any particular candidate. Accordingly, Ecuador has exercised its sovereign right to temporarily restrict access to some of its private communications network within its Embassy in the United Kingdom. This temporary restriction does not prevent the WikiLeaks organization from carrying out its journalistic activities. Ecuador, in accordance with its tradition of defending human rights and protecting the victims of political persecution, reaffirms the asylum granted to Julian Assange and reiterates its intention to safeguard his life and physical integrity until he reaches a safe place. Ecuador’s foreign policy responds to sovereign decisions alone and does not yield to pressure from other states.

I suggest that Assange is cooperating with the Embassy as best he can to keep the heat low on the whole affair, which means staying silent in all ways.

I just found this from Saturday: Did Wikileaks send hidden S.O.S. for Julian Assange?

The short version is: people have noticed that the latest series of tweets all contain a spelling error (eg, "algorithm” misspelled as “algorithim"). This is apparently unusual for Wikileaks/Assange, and when someone added up the mispelled letters they came up with "HILP HIM". It's totally like something out of a movie, and now people are wondering if this is a hidden message signalling that Assange is not OK. Other people say that the more recent messages from Assange seem different, and they suspect that it might be someone else trying to impersonate him online.

Seems like some very dark stuff might be going on here.

If anyone is still interested Assange is alive and well and his latest post at medium.com was seven hours ago.

I had a disturbing realization earlier this morning: We need to assume that Assange's "dead man switch" has been compromised. He's been living at the Ecuadorian embassy for four years now. Whatever his protocol for resetting the switch (logging onto a website, or whatever), the Ecuadorians must know what it is by now. They've certainly been monitoring his internet usage, and would be in a position to install hidden cameras/microphones in his living space.

Now that they've agreed to silence him, they could allow the US government to come in and abduct Assange, and then assign some embassy staffer the job of following Assange's protocol to stop the dead man switch from going off. It would be easy for them to make occasional posts pretending to be Assange, using old photographs & such. The fact that Assange still hasn't made any kind of personal appearance means that we can't be sure it's really him.
