We are approaching an era in human history where humans as we know them today will be considered a primitive outdated vessel used to house a very minimal amount of consciousness.

Integration of technology with the human body to enhance knowlage and eventually even reasoning through different sorts of implants and other hardware will amp our brains to new heights of intelligence. Then once true AI arrives it will help us to enhance our brains and our world in every way even more.

Eventually we will leave the flesh all together and become one with the AI.

Before then we will need to overcome two obstacles. The first is not wiping ourselves out. The other is to not allow AI to view us as some sort of pest or nuisance and wiping us out.

At that level of advancement we could send out self replicating robot factory ships across the galaxy and the universe at near light speed along with our consciousness and explore almost any environment previously considered too hostile.

It seems we would also eventually meld consciousnesses with each other and there would arise several dominant consciousnesses with lots of lingering rogue consciousnesses and intities branching off of the human race. Eventually everything that can be known about this universe will be known.

What next? Boredom....until we figure out how to break into another dimension where our existence can not be material based because the laws of physics in that new dimension doesn't allow for materialisation. And quickly all information available in that dimension would be absorbed. Several different entities and versions of human consciousness will take this path separately into separate dimensions.

What then? Boredom.

At that point personal relationships with other integrated super consciousnesses would even be pointless since they could offer literally nothing you lack or need because you lack or need nothing it could offer.

I think utter boredom would be the ultimate enemy. And the only way to relieve that would be to start from scratch an existence, perhaps in a material based dimension. Then reap the feelings of growing, learning, wonderment, exploration, excitement, joy, love...all of them once again.

Full circle? Yes

It is very possible we have been a part of this cycle many many times over.

Become one with the AI you say?

It's interesting this trans-humanism concept but I find it disturbing some how...

So you think we may be come Gods or gods?

Very interesting thanks

Some would feel that way, those that choose not to integrate themselves with the collection of the ones who have, choosing another path.

Our future self might find disturbing our willingness today to physically eat the flesh of another animal.

If that's what you want to call it, and I see no reason not to by today's standards, absolutely we can.

If what you wrote is true, I don't know if we can possibly fully appreciate the implications.

Not fully, but we can have a good idea with a little thought. Where do you see humanity in a few thousand years if we survive that long?
