This one's for the traditionalists , it's that time of year when a tame cheese is let loose into the wilds of the Gloucestershire countryside to be hunted down by hoards of cheese hungry Brits , it's rough and tough ,it's the Cooper's Hill cheese roll 2016 and it aint for the faint hearted..

Introducing , the cheese.

The obligatory warning.

And the video of brave Brits risking life and limb to recapture the errant cheese.

This years winner ?
That'll be Chris Anderson , Soldier.

He gets to keep the cheese , Chris has won 15 cheeses over 11 years of participation.
Well done Chris , a true Great Brit.

I had always thought that was an Aussie thing. So the Brits are crazy too!
That looks like the type of sport best done somewhat drunk - bodies are more flexible then, for the stumble and roll downhill 🍻

Never attended this event even though it's not too far from where I live.

Even though I think participants are mad, I think I would have liked to have had a go in my younger years, when my knees would have allowed it.

There is something quite endearing about these crazy events, makes you proud to be British. I'm just surprised the E.U hasn't banned it.

edit on 30/5/16 by Cobaltic1978 because: (no reason given)

Remember as a lad there was always the "up the greasy pole for a leg of lamb", that would cause as much fun as climbing 30ft up an old BT pole with no footwear etc.

You Brits get to have ALL the fun!
( grumble...grumble)

This really should be an American sport. We could just roll down the hill like a ball after the cheese.

Remind me again, how is this NOT a thing in the US? Free food and dumbassery?
