The line above is the dramatic claim of the BBC, but I thought the story was quite amusing, especially for ATS members - don't believe or assume things on first glance.

It is just a basic optical illusion many will have seen, and it amazes me that it is "bewildering the internet". News now is more entertainment than actual news - you know, actually telling (lying to) us what is happening in the world!!

This video - of a father shuffling around his son's toy train tracks - has bewildered the internet. Can you figure out what's causing the optical illusion? It was posted on Twitter by BBC trainer Marc Blank-Settle on Wednesday evening, and been shared thousands of times since then. The track on the bottom appears to be much longer than the one on the top, but when one is placed on top of the other, its clear that they are in fact the same size. Many viewers were left completely dumbfounded.

Mmm. Going to get out my son's wooden train tracks set in the morning. Somebody is screwing with me. Tom foolery i say!

Trust but verify.

Seemed pretty evident to me, not sure why or how anyone could be bewildered.
Even if you were looking at just one piece alone, it is easy to see one side is longer than the other because of the curve.
You could predict the contrast intuitively without even thinking about it.
Whatever. It is just click bait for ads, no?

The film was edited. Good job as well. There is one point where you see a very subtle pause just before the original track was picked up again.With no timer though , hard to determine.

First thought as well. Though I am rarely taken in by illusions regarding perception.

Yeah, it reminded me as an advanced version of the line drawing which we all know from our childhood, such as this one

I posted this as I stated in the first line of my OP

"The train track optical illusion that's bewildering the internet"

to show the stupidity of the "news" reporting media, the stupidity of some sheeple, and the fact that what you see is not necessarily always what you think (not going any further on that one).
