Two Big Milestones for the 737 MAX and A320neo

Both the next generation 737 MAX and A320neo recently saw big milestones just a few days apart.


The 737 MAX saw a successful first flight out of Renton Field on the 29th.

Just over seven weeks after it rolled out of the paint hangar, the first 737 MAX — the “Spirit of Renton” — had a smooth first flight Friday, proclaiming Boeing’s ambition to stay competitive against Airbus for the next decade in the crucial short-haul airliner market.

For the A320neo, it had its first revenue flight with Lufthansa on the 25th.

The Airbus A320neo has officially entered commercial airline service today. The extremely low-key non-event caught almost all passengers of Lufthansa flight 100 by surprise this morning when they flew from Lufthansa’s main base Frankfurt to its second German hub in Munich.
