On the subject of RAAF Globemasters, I was plane spotting at RAAF Williamtown last year, taking some shots of the F/A18s on a training day when two C-17s (206 &207) arrived from the south, did touch & gos & headed off north.

Deafening but they really fill the viewfinder!

Sorry not my picture, I just took it from a post above so here is one with engines...hehe



C-141s were going there over a decade before the first C-5. This was mainly due to no one wanted to pay for it, so the Air Force did it for free just to do it. I been there about 15 times, we would stage out of Christchurch for 45 days at a time to support Operation Deep Freeze. Mainly shuttling people/supply in and out after the winter. It is a crazy place with an active volcano. Scott's Hut, and Penguins...hehe.
