WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — A passenger on a flight from New York City to South Florida has been arrested after authorities say he punched a flight attendant and threatened to blow up the plane.

According to an FBI report, Kucuk used verbal epithets and racial slurs and threatened to blow up the plane. Kucuk was aboard JetBlue Airways Flight 153 from New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport to Palm Beach International Airport, investigators said.

The article was brief, with few details.

Jet Blue

He was charged with Interfering with a Flight Attendant and Threatening to Destroy an Aircraft. I'm assuming both felonies. Seems like he should be charged with more crimes to me. Not sure if there's a mental health history. No mention of drinking or drugs.

The two charges combined carry a max sentence of 30 years under federal law.

What else should he be charged with?

How about attempted murder/homicide? Assault?

I hope he enjoys the No-Fly list.

After he gets out of prison.

Interfering with flight crew IS assault or the threat of assault on a crew member.

Interfering can mean many things, including Assault. If you were on this flight, or your family, would you want the minimum or maximum charged against him?

Interfering with flight crew means exactly what it means. There is no interpretation. You can quite easily look up the charge in the US code.

It means what it means.

Never mind, I'll do it for you: www.law.cornell.edu...

I would want him charged for what he did: interfere with the ability of the flight crew to perform their duty by assaulting them.

Which is what he's charged with.

Punched a flight attendant how hard? Threatened to blow up the plane with what? Poor guy probably had a bit of a breakdown. If it's out of character he just needs a bit of advice from a calm and unflinching seven foot cop.

If it's a pattern then further intervention is needed.
