I don't think Americans really want "equality."

You do realize that you don't have to be GIVEN anything to be equal right?

What does free insurance, or a forced minimum wage hike, etc. etc. have to do with being equal? I think this is the disconnect. Everyone has equal opportunity in this country, just because some made poor decisions we're all supposed to pay more to make up for their poor decisions? How is that equality? Someone makes good decisions and is successful so you want to take their money to fund F#ckups? Sounds like its anti success.

Yes! This!

And considering how they have historically treated minorities....they hope like help that they are never the minority. Either their scared of karma, or they deep down inside know they really have been discriminatory, hateful and bigoted in their treatment of others. They fear their own behavior, thus they project their own behavior on others.

It's both. And many are definitely afraid of karma. You can hear it in many conservative speeches & talking points; they obsess over the possibility that we'll enslave them, oppress them, steal their land & women, etc. That's also why they demonize minority leaders who aggressively fight for freedom & equality (like Patrice Lamumba) while glorifying passive leaders like Dr MLK & the "Truth and Reconciliation Commission" in South Africa.

I talk extensively with my conservative co-workers & neighbors about this. To me, it doesn't make sense. Why not be nice to people if you think they'll eventually become the majority? Wouldn't it make more sense to become allies with your potential boss than to constantly attack him/her? I mean, if you keep kicking me & my family when we're down, you can't seriously expect me to give you a hug once I stand up. It's a self fulfilling prophecy. It's like we're expected to be peaceful & forgiving even though they aren't.

But instead of taking the high road, many just double down on their bs ideology of "might makes right". Just look at some posts on ATS & you'll see the mindset I'm talking about.

Why don't you just come out and say what you really mean?

Since you're racist, everyone else must be racist too, right?

I said exactly what I meant. It's not my fault you have a problem with reading comprehension or see imaginary "bogeymen" hidden in my words. I didn't even mention race or ethnicities, since "minorities" refers to women in social & economic terms as well as LGBTs & religious minorities. But you instantly assumed I meant race, which makes it seem like you're the one focused on "race", not me.

And how am I racist? I know that all humans can be loving or wretched. There's no such thing as "chosen people" or "cursed bloodlines", either. And true love or hate can transcend any human boundaries. Besides, "race" is a stupid pseudo science anyway. We all eat, sleep, crap, lust, laugh & get angry. What does pigmentation have to do with anything? But some people are still stupid enough to judge others based on pigmentation. Those are ones with "race" issues, not me.

The problem is that people who come from advantage and privilege have these two thoughts that are so patently false it is sickening

1. pull yourselves up by the bootstraps is such bull crap. The problem is we daily cut bootstraps by making things impossible for most bootstraps to be pulled. We continue to cut the bootstraps every day by discontinuing, underfunding or killing the few programs left in each county. I see it all the time in social services and psychology here and it's rampant

2. The idea that "equality" somehow mean we are destroying the sanctity of whatever. It's so strange that equality equals pain or destruction of their "whatever." To me equality isn't about taking away from others...it is all about giving equally to others or at least offering an equal startup or pedestal to launch off of. It doesn't mean we are taking from the majority. It drives me berserk.

Americans don't want equality. They want Meritocracy tuned to their sensibilities. The problem is each person has their own view of what is meritorious, and what is vile or undesirable. The state system allows subdivisions of potentially 50 combinations of merit, however, the federal oversight inhibits the capacity for diversity in these smaller communities. Expanding federal powers reduces state capacity for self expression and diversity, and that forces people who do not agree to each live under a set of "compromises" they find untenable. The consequence is increased anxiety, protest, fear, and violence. A Federal government should follow the way of the Tao, and let state organizations define their national identities.

Even with 50 states and a Lao Tzu Federal government, the manifestation of mentally imbalanced views of merit will still produce unpleasant results, but the conflicts and incompetence can be greatly reduced.

This post is a good reason against free education, more people are indoctrinated then educated.

When people say they cannot afford health care, yet can afford cable and multiple cell phones....I think that they can afford health care.

College is to prepare you for a real world job. The best of the best high school kids do get to go for free. The rest, really. What are the lower end kids going to go for? Do you think that the college is going to fail them and kick out free money? So now you will have a bunch of people with a college degree, do you really think that there will be a jump in the need for social science degree? Did the black/gay/women/womyn studies factor open up right out side of, pick your inner city.

Lead the way, start by moving to the most predominate non white area near you. Then open up a small business/grocery story that can help the community. You can do both of these relatively cheaply, but it is easy to be an ATS warrior then to do it in the real world. Do it and start a blog, lead the way

If you ever want to hear some good racism stories that will blow your mind, talk to a white kid who went to a predominantly black school, their stories about racism will dwarf any stories that you heard from black kids going to a predominantly white school. Then talk to a teach from an inner city school, especially a white teacher. Compare their stories from a black teacher in a predominate white school.

what you describe is not equality it is socialism.

As for racism? Please.

We #ing let 30 million immigrants in and give them citizenship then we are called racist.

F you and your white hating marxist, racist hull#.

Trust me, you will get your wish of a non white socialist paradise in about 30 years.

And it will be exactly like Venezuela with a collsed socialist economy and a murder rate like Fallujah.

I thought we only had one - Earth. But hey, we Earthlings have a moral obligation to prevent our other Earthlings from flourishing because they're entitled and want hand-outs, but let's spend trillions of dollars bombing this country so we can weaken its populace and defenses that way we can implement our own puppet dictatorship so that we can buy our oil at a cheaper rate, and anytime any of the people of this country try to attack us, we point the finger at them for throwing the first stone and then drop a nuke 13 miles from an elementary school!

Incidentally these actions leave the populace in a state where they require hand outs just to survive...

The irony of it all ...
