The teasing hint of a UK forum never seemed to happen, again.
I think that in itself would be a great place for us all to have decent reasoned discussion where we all understand a bit of pisstake and banter.
We could also proper bitch amongst ourselves there, Scots/English/Welsh/N.Irish, you know, like the disfunctional family we really are haha.

A few ATS Brits have met up as far as I've heard from one-to-one messages, we're a pretty sociable bunch to be fair.
Even those I've crossed swords with a chat over a pint or two is always good, pub rules n all, at least there are no real worries about one of us turning up with an AR15 or a CCW lol.

I don't know any of us in 'real life' but if I was forced to bet on it I'd say if I left my seat to go for a piss then my jacket would still have the same stuff in its pockets as when I left.
Too trusting? Maybe, but I never leave anything laying about that I can't afford to lose.

...unlike the lad in the OP!

I'll PM you in the week, spoke to my Mam tonight, told her the story in the OP and she said she'd have disowned me if I had done anything different lol.
Haven't been back to see her in Swansea for a while (Wales' premier city of course) so I need to make a trip, just work n stuff always in the way.

...but on-topic again, please do share your losses or impressive finds while walking your life path.
My best find was the day my son was born, I left the hospital early morning after a night holding my (then) wife's hand through the night while she did her amazing thing. I'd forgotten to take any money so resigned myself to the 2 mile walk home, but then, glistening in the sun was a dew covered £5 note on the grass.
I called a taxi straight away!

Never found anything particularly cool.

And I don't place so much value on any of my possessions that I wouldn't be totally fine with losing them.

My computer is the only thing I'd be a little sore about losing but I'd throw it off a cliff to save my cat.

My mom had a mother's ring we gave her as a gift many years ago.

She died when I was younger so, I'm not quite sure how she wasn't buried with it but, sadly, she wasn't.

I kept it as a reminder of her up until I was in college. That is when some A hole broke into my dorm room and stole all my jewelry off of my desk. Her ring included.

May the thief rot in hell.

I've never truly got over losing it...or rather, having it stolen from me.

My cat is hard as nails. She'd save my laptop and sell it back to me

That's a sad story.
I understand corvuscorrax places little value on 'stuff' but I do...I'd have been gutted about that.
Thieves, they deserve to rot, bastards.

Hahaha! Gotta be Welsh to get that one! Love it!
I'm guessing the biggest thing Cardiff has ever lost was the chance to stay up in the Premier league!
They have found fame in the Championship though, just unfortunate you have to be local and able to buy the South Wales Echo to know anything about it lol

I've got another story. My lad popped round earlier and he is a part time lifeguard while he is at college.
Last week a guys wedding ring slipped off his finger when the wave machine was on, he was desperate apparently but unfortunately the filters are only cleared every six months by a specialist engineering company.

My lad donned his goggles and searched for the ring but it was not in the pool so he took his details and promised him that when the 3rd party company does their thing he will make a total effort that they recover his loss.
I absolutely believe my son wants that guy to get his wedding ring back, and I trust the intentions of his employer with the record keeping, but I wonder if the filter engineers who turn up just take this as common practice and will just keep the ring as a bonus without saying anything.

I hope not, but I am realistic in my perception of most people.

*Edit*
I'm hoping that the wave machine filter engineers are like most of us with traceable treasures. so if my lad is on it as he seems to be then he will tell the tale to the guys when they turn up and they will be decent humans and look for the particular ring.
...if the treasure is untraceable then good luck to them, bonus of their job.

edit on 25.8.2015 by grainofsand because: (no reason given)

Hi! I found an eagle owl`s skeleton, that was in good condition and complete, so i thought why not?, bag-it, assembled it, and started looking online for info, and for my surprise, i found out, that the damned thing was worth thousands of dollars, but it is illegal to sell it, because i can only have it in my private collection, sometimes he/she takes a couple weeks of, and hangs in a museum, so its all good.

Oh wow, that's an interesting one

Pity you can't sell it, but I guess I can understand the law to stop people killing them.
