Now, add a slide with more ice cubes to feed your glass. Until the ice cubes in the glass get out of the way, no more ice can get into it. When those ice cubes melt, what happens?

Man this thread has become a trainwreck.

8 minute mark of this video always sums this argument up better than anything.

It was a trainwreck from the opening post.

Trying to get people to see something that does not exist in the manners expressed has gotten nowhere.

SO, make sure and keep posting these meaningless threads about CO2 and all that we are to blame and volcanos are nothing in comparison, and bla bla bla for the next century, maybe then we will see an even 1 inch rise in the sea, OH NOES.

If human pollution is the cause of this catastrophic warming
of the planet and collapsing ice shelf perhaps we should stop making
MORE humans....

If you're not willing to talk about that you're just rearranging the furniture
on a sinking ship....

The land is freed from weight and rises out of the sea ???

Slowly, it does.
That doesn't really help though, not many people live under the glacier.

Has anybody considered if the water cycle isn't perhaps countering a certain percentage of this melting ice ?
Water always stays in the system whether it is ice, gas or water. With global warming is not more water being evaporated from the oceans than before. Of coarse some will just fall back as rain and return to the ocean, but some will head north/south and fall as snow once again. Yes it can melt again too. But snow on the mountains doesn't totally melt.
I live close to a large mountain, even after a week of 35 degree plus Celsius(95F) weather there is still plenty of snow on it.

Let's have some fun!

Small scale: Freeze a few 5 gallon buckets of water and put them in your pool. Let the water melt. The water level in your pool won't change.

Smallest scale: put some ice cubes in your glass, then fill the glass right up to the top with water, and let it set. As the ice cubes melt, the cup won't runneth over... and might actually lower due to air dissolved in the ice cubes.

An accurate experimenter would use saltwater and ice cubes (freshwater). This leads to different results due to density and buoyancy.

Ocean warming and increased atmospheric Co2 is cyclically caused by increase in undersea volcanic activity. It is part of Earth's natural cycle. There isn't anything humanity can do about that, it is nature.

No one really knows for sure and i would recomend that if there is any doubt we should tread with caution. The risks are far too great
