At this days it will be great to have something stealth flying mach 3 on long period , I think mach 6 speed realy more difficult for a persistent aircraft, the mission can be ISR or like the cold war : rapid interceptor or may be why not missile defense to intercept incoming missile .

Anyone ever consider why such excessive speed is being sought? Y'know we still have never had a pursuit craft that could catch one of those UFO's....if we only had one that could travel as fast, with an on-board particle weapon, we might be able to do something about them in our airspace.

Or..........not.............hypothetically.

To avoid being shot down by a missile, I suppose. Thats my best guess

They are called S-400's and they travel at mach 6.

May be the solution is not going to mach 3 to start the ramjet , but working on a ramjet with a mach 2 or 2.2 start ? May be at this speed the chemistry can help starting the ramjet engine or another solution I don't know.

In order to strike a target very soon after launch without creating the signature of a ballistic missile.

The stopping and right angle turns at speed kind of make that moot.
