In the last 15 minutes....

Jurors in the trial of Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev reached a verdict Friday afternoon as they try to determine if he should be sentenced to life in prison or executed.
The verdict will be read at 3 p.m.

Seventeen of the 30 charges Tsarnaev was convicted of carry the possibility of the death penalty.
The jury will decide either unanimously for death or unanimously for life in prison.
If there can be no unanimous decision, then the court will be bound to impose a life sentence.

Tuned in about 10 minutes ago, myself.

I'm torn between not wanting to make him a martyr in the eyes of some poeple and wanting him to burn.

I"m against the death penalty in most cases.
In this case, he deserves death.

I'll be surprised if Death is unanimous even though they lean pro. Looks like the jury is broken on mitigating charges.

They're saying Tsarnaev has his head down and his hands crossed in front of him. The penalty is DEATH. He needs to pray.

They need twelve to reach a death penalty.

Of the twelve jurors on the panel, it appears that two or three are accepting parts of the defence's mitigating arguments.
That would be enough to save him if they voted against death but it shows they were up against a majority that was much more sceptical.

TV news reports that he was emotionless when the penalty of DEATH was read off.

I love how they're reporting that when the verdict came down, he was emotionless. They say he scratched his chin. That shows you right there how much of a monster he is.

As others have said, I'm often against the death penalty, but I do believe that it's there for cases like this. It's a hard feeling to come to terms with...I value life, I believe that most people are basically good, but I also realize that the reality is that some people just have to be dealt with.

His facial expressions are probably emotionless. But I can guarantee that his head is spinning.

No need to hold his head down now, as he had to know how this was going to end after that long terror filled day, and night.

He's not a patsy. He's responsible for his own actions. He placed the device. He got his trial and was rightfully sentenced.

What makes you think he's a Patsy?

I've heard lots of theories about this event, but anything remotely credible that I've heard points to him as the guilty party. Do you have credible sources that point in another direction?

I'm asking this as an honest question, not intending to rile anything up - but if there's a valid line of thought that he is indeed a Patsy, it's worth exploring.
