I had never heard of this city, even though it is now named the capital of Burma. I enjoy articles like this about ghost towns and the like. It's incredible they have a huge airport that keeps undergoing expansion, and it doesn't service that many people. In such an impoverished nation, it's a shame so much money went into this.

Wow...20 lane highways that are empty. Six cities the size of New York in one. A waste and rather sad that the people whom built the city live in tents by the river bank. I do enjoy abandoned places myself and while this city shows some life its not much. Would like to visit but really wouldn't want to support the oppressive regime. Maybe one day the promised democratic reforms will take place.

Projects like this may have purpose that doesn't get understood until later.
