1. Baltimore Police Officers Want To Oust The Mayor

“There is right now over 50 of us officers who are immediately asking for [Baltimore Mayor] Stephanie Rawlings-Blake to step down for what she did to us Monday,” the caller told WBAL radio host Derek Hunter.

The Baltimore mayor has denied giving “stand down” orders and blamed the media for misinterpreting her comments about providing “a space” for protesters to loot.

2. Baltimore Riots Didn't Start the Way You Think

Meghann Harris, a teacher at a nearby school, described on Facebook what happened:

Police were forcing buses to stop and unload all their passengers. Then, [Frederick Douglass High School] students, in huge herds, were trying to leave on various buses but couldn't catch any because they were all shut down.

No kids were yet around except about 20, who looked like they were waiting for police to do something. The cops, on the other hand, were in full riot gear, marching toward any small social clique of students…It looked as if there were hundreds of cops.

...

As Meghann Harris put it, "if I were a Douglas student that just got trapped in the middle of a minefield BY cops without any way to get home and completely in harm's way, I'd be ready to pop off, too."

3. OPINION: "Problems Are Bigger Than Most Think"

Once a predominantly industrial town, with an economic base focused on steel processing, shipping, auto manufacturing, and transportation, the city experienced deindustrialization which cost residents tens of thousands of low-skill, high-wage jobs.

The city now relies on a low-wage service economy, which accounts for 90% of jobs in the city.

...

Tourism

Baltimore's history and attractions have allowed the city to become a strong tourist destination on the East Coast.

In 2013, the city hosted 23.9 million visitors, who spent $5.15 billion.

...

( or will 'tourism' be increasing with ...

10,000 national guard-n-police? )

-
OPINION ... Baltimore IS a 'Living-Nightmare'.

( and/or "suspect-of: intentional chaos ???" )

Baltimore sure looks like a success story.

The economic/social complex is poster material.

Couple things: the one witness described "herds" of kids standing around because police were forcing them off buses or not allowing them to board...and then says there was only about "20" kids there? Which is it?

I'm also confused as to why people are surprised/whatever cops showed up at a place there was supposed to be a protest and/or riot, when it was well known the "purge" was supposed to kick off there?

Interesting but....what's relevant is that these "cop abuse" cases are being used and manipulted by the "Social Justice", better called "Socialist Justice", activists push their "Reparations for the Black People" agenda and are now being highlighted in an effort to Federalize the local Police Forces. For a brief description, see: www.wnd.com...

(Yea, I know, WND, right wing nutjobs, but it was the best I could do on the fly. You'll find other similar stories if you Google the term "Sharpton Federal Policing").

The problem I see with this is that while it seems unlikely a lame duck president like Obama could accomplish much in this direction, the obvious intent and focus of these protests is to disrupt the Tourist and Convention businesses of these crummy old former Industrialist cities like Baltimore because the "Agitators" know that if they disrupt enough of these businesses in enough cities, the "Corporations" that control Congress will force Congress to take some action toward Federalizing local law enforcement with, I would think, a focus on the major metropolitan areas which are all controled by Democrat Mayors and Administrations.

So...the upshot of this is that while 90% of the residents of fly-over country could care less what happens in Baltimore, Indy, Cincy, Cleveland, Chicago, Milwaukee and Detroit, the sympathizing protests and disruptions happening in those cities, are, if you check the news...are focused like a laser beam on intimidating tourists and convention goers so as to shut down those operations. And, I have to wonder if they won't wise up to the idea of disrupting Major League Baseball venues as they did with the Baltimore Orioles. If they do that...MLB will force the issue in a big, big way!

Personally, I wouldn't at all be surprised to see this escalate around the country in all the Major Metropolitan areas. And of course, the Fourth of July celebrations will be targeted as they have in the past. In fact I've read somewhere where one town has already canceled their Fourth of July festivities. See: www.detroitnews.com...

Interesting times.

Maybe as a teacher she is aware of the wider scope and the story of "20" was something she witnessed personally.

Something similar happened here in Vancouver when Boston stole our Cup.

Police were blocking all the routes to train stations and most of the roads were shut down. The police were causing chaos by ordering people from one blocked train station to another. The clouds that the media were filming were a direct result of police actions.

Then there were cars being lit on fire by actual rioters and the police stood a block away letting them burn. I do not think police intervened once into a property crime. Residents did all the defence. Standing in front of stores. Police used all their resources to herd the public into a state of confusion and used none to protect property.

Even the prosecutions. Residents trapped downtown took it upon themselves to send all the photos that they took while trapped downtown to a Facebook page for police. It took sometime before our pillars of intelligence realized "Hey, we can use these to prosecute and come out looking like super efficient heros, Bonuses!"

For no money at all the residents of Vancouver stood up for for private property. Meanwhile the VPD who leach 16% of our cities budget and only 15% live in Vancouver, did nothing but create problems they can demand more money to control. Almost all of the rioters and police live in near by cities. We were left to defend ourselves.

Sounds to me like she's confused as to which story to stick with. Either she's changing her story, mid-story, or she's presenting things she heard as if she witnessed it personally.

I think paragraph above reads as witnessed fro, the authors source.

When school let out that afternoon, police were in the area equipped with full riot gear. According to eyewitnesses in the Mondawmin neighborhood, the police were stopping buses and forcing riders, including many students who were trying to get home, to disembark. Cops shut down the local subway stop. They also blockaded roads near the Mondawmin Mall and Frederick Douglass High School, which is across the street from the mall, and essentially corralled young people in the area. That is, they did not allow the after-school crowd to disperse.

And then I guess the story of 20 is either witnessed by Harris or like you said she is conveying the story of students.

Edit to add, that paragraph is identical to the experiences with police here in Van with our riots.
edit on 3-5-2015 by MALBOSIA because: (no reason given)

In a very badly structured statement, it appears she is trying to convey there were only 20 students present, prior to the buses and subway being stopped. May be something different, but seems that way to me.

Hope she's not an English teacher!

My response to that was "and she's a teacher?"

And then I saw your last line
