A patient suspected of possibly having contracted Ebola was put into isolation at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston on Tuesday for tests, and if found to be infected would be the first Ebola case in the state. The patient had been under investigation after having traveled to an area infected with Ebola during the ongoing epidemic centered in western Africa, and after showing symptoms similar to the lethal virus was hospitalized, reports The Boston Globe. Dr. Paul Biddinger, director of emergency preparedness at the hospital, said the patient remains in stable condition and emphasized the symptoms mirror other diseases, "many of which are more likely than Ebola." Initial Ebola test results could come in as early as overnight according to Biddinger, adding other tests will take longer.

Here's another source with an update on this patient:

A Massachusetts General Hospital patient has initially tested negative for Ebola, but will remain in the care of medical personnel over the next few days. During a Wednesday afternoon press conference, Dr. David Hooper, chief of the MGH Infection Control Unit, said initial tests for Ebola were negative, but did test positive for Malaria. While the patient will be retested over the next few days, the changes of a positive result were low.

Malaria sucks, too.

I heard somewhere that four out of five Ebola like cases from Africa turn out to be Malaria.

Thanks for the update about that one.

S&F for the update. Ebola news has been put on the sidelines lately.

Still important IMO.

ATLANTA, Ga. —

Emory University Hospital announced it will be monitoring a possible Ebola patient.

"An American health care worker from West Africa who may have been exposed to the Ebola virus is being transferred to Emory University Hospital’s Serious Communicable Diseases Unit for monitoring and observation to see if an infection has been acquired," Emory University Hospital officials said in a statement
