Who didn't see this coming? Guess we know what all that Ebola hype was about. Preparing you for the new vaccine, just like the flu. I am not going to be their Guinea Pig.

Ebola vaccine seems safe in first-stage testing

By By [sic] LAURAN NEERGAARD, AP Medical Writer

WASHINGTON — An experimental Ebola vaccine appears safe and triggered signs of immune protection in the first 20 volunteers to test it, U.S. researchers reported Wednesday. The vaccine is designed to spur the immune system's production of anti-Ebola antibodies, and people developed them within four weeks of getting the shots at the National Institutes of Health. Half of the test group received a higher-dose shot, and those people produced more antibodies, said the study published in the New England Journal of Medicine. Some people also developed a different set of virus-fighting immune cells, named T cells, the study found. That may be important in fending off Ebola, as prior research found that monkeys protected by the vaccine also had that combination response.

Oh no! An Ebola vaccine? The horror!

Cue the scientific illiteracy and paranoia.

Haha, we all could see this one coming for a long time.

Will they start the compulsory vaccinations anytime soon?

You do realize that considering this is only in first-stage human trials that it's still years off from becoming FDA-approved. Right? If it was fast tracked it might be commercially available in 3 to 5 years. Although I'm guessing it will be 7+. If the media can keep the Ebola fear going for that long I'll be genuinely impressed.

We must wait for the 97% consensus.

Then we will know it won't work.

I am not going to be their Guinea Pig.

Unless you plan on going to West Africa sometime soon, you definitely won't be. The next trials will be done there.

What makes you think that this vaccine would be given to anyone outside of the region where this disease originates?
What have you got against humanity that you wouldn't want this vaccine to be viable for those at risk?
The Ebola vaccine isn't for Americans or anyone else outside of the ivory coast of west Africa. Where Ebola comes from.

A vaccine is not a cure. It's prevention from the disease in the first place. There is no cure only treatment that sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. Preventing people from getting sick to begin with through a vaccine is a good thing and BTW has zero to do with American politics. We're not the center of the universe.

You do realize that this is through the World Health Oorganization and won't need or be getting FDA approval. Right?
