Because you added the full time hours a person might work in a week I assume its work as in a job that you get paid for.


Doesn't that answer your question from just about every bodies perspective.

^^ I have no idea why you've decided to post the above. You could have just said:

"No one is forcing me to work 40 hrs per week" Instead of pretending to be ignorant of the fact that a very large majority of the population in the developed world must work 40 hrs a week in order to survive economically.

If ignorance is your thing, cool. But please dont try and derail a relaxed debate that questions the status quo of the working week.

Some of it just seems like "tradition".

For example, there is NOTHING in my job that I couldn't do via my home computer.
Literally, nothing.

However, I'm still forced to drive an hour (each way) to come into an office and do it. Staying home would save me $100 a week in gas, and would likely mean I'd give them more hours, as I'd have no problem logging in later to answer a client on Pacific time, if I was comfortable at home.
