I posted the below picture in the 'Bacon' thread and it got me thinking. Why not have some fun and post our latest creations for everyone to salivate over?

Only rule, it has to be something that you made. Give a brief description and include a recipe if you feel ambitious.

This was last night's meal:

Bacon-wrapped filet mignon, which I seared in a skillet and finished under the broiler and topped with foie gras butter. Served with butter and brown sugar glazed carrots and leek and garlic mashed potatoes. We had a nice 2009 Chateau Lilian Ladouys St. Estephe with it that paired very well. The tannins helped cut the unctuousness of the foie gras and bacon.

Your turn...

Threads like this are evil. They make your eyes bulge and drool starts coming out the corner of your mouth.

Oh sorry, I guess most people don't have that problem.

I do. And I stopped thinking of it as a problem, more like a condition.

The medicine to treat this condition is bacon. It can also be smoked fish or homemade beef or venison jerky too. Ohhh. my tummy is starting to make noises.

Ours was simple. We took catfish nuggets, cut them into smaller squares, breaded them with seasoned crumbs. The crumbs were seasoned with Hatch chili powder, garlic salt and garlic powder, cumin and oregano. Then we fried them.

We served those on a bed of sliced Romaine with diced avocado, chopped tomato, and queso fresco cheese crumbles.

We call it taco salad, and we serve it generally to finish off an aging head of lettuce. But, it was hot, tasty and really good.

You think I stop to take pictures of my food? It tends to disappear too fast for that!

No pics so it did not happen!

Today we had day old precooked potato's pan fried with bacon and black pudding.

Fried till crispy with lightly poached eggs on top and a home made bread sauce.

I would put pics up but it would be against t&c's

I say risk it. We could call on the known-foodie mod, bigfatfurrytexan, to bail you out.

It could be deemed pornographic to some but also it is eaten.

I will take the challenge and upload some meals over the next day or to.

It can also be smoked fish...

Just for you (and because we stuffed ourselves with meat last night):

Smoked salmon and lump crab napoleon served over sliced cucumbers with a citrus, chive and poppy seed vinaigrette. Very good with a crisp 2007 St. Urbans Hof Riesling.

Thank you. I had two restaurants for 13 years so I had some practice.
