People seriously need to stop posting all their personal info on social networks:
city, state of residence
photos of their children (and their names and what school they attend)
your date of birth
photo of yourself
marital status
when and where you'll be going on vacation
etc

No need to use social media. Simply look for all the vehicles with the stickers, "Marine Mom", "My son is an Army Ranger", "My daughter is in the Navy", and so on.

a reply to: sarra1833 I hear something completely different here.

I hear"let's scare the hell out of the people so that they will be happy to give up social media...and being in touch with other people."

I hear let's protect the people..."by scaring the crap out of them and making them afraid of everything till they want nothing than to give up all rights and freedoms"

I hear Isis is the perfect frontend to keep people in a perfect heighten state make them amicable to all the "s+£& that we will be sending their way.

The military has always frowned upon social media to a degree. Same with Tats and stickers on a vehicle. Of course, while it's frowned upon, it is not enforced thank God.

I've always wondered why people advertise their family, religious/political beliefs or status on their vehicles or themselves. Isn't it enough just to be proud of what they or a family member do?

Of course they're telling you all this - they want boots on the ground don't they. What a better way to get them. Mention your family and when the draft comes in you'll all jump on the bandwagon.
Just like nobody agreed to a war with Iraq until the twin towers - works every time!!! a reply to: sarra1833

Your post is absolutely tasteless and classless!! You seem to think the revelation of you needing to wear diapers for an obviously incontinence problem is somehow more valid than what the OP was saying? If you want to have an intelligent discussion it requires you to bring some damn intelligence with you....and fyi attacking the messenger and not the message is proving your iq is, well, pretty damn lowbrow!

Who made you judge & jury of 200+ million people?

How about they glass you & your family over for your extremist rhetoric?

How about they start with the "commander in chief" and work their way down from there?

Seriously, more doom porn from the government and it's alphabet agencies and their Israeli handlers. I can't believe people still fall for all this garbage and get all hot under the collar, puff their chests out and make lame counter threats to kill all the Mooslims etc...etc! Rather comical really.

From the FOX article:

One section cites a jihadist tweet calling on lone offenders to use the "yellow pages" and social media to identify the addresses of military families, and to "show up [at their homes] and slaughter them."

It reminded me of this article I saw yesterday, take a look:

alethonews.wordpress.com...

In other words, persons unknown, create social media sites / accounts, post some garbage supposedly from ISIS or, in this particular case, a fictitious Muslim living in the USA and use a random photo of a real person from a stolen image, and hey presto!, people fall for it hook line and sinker.

I wouldn't worry too much about this now. They do have skills and some money but to find a soldiers identity from the battlefield isn't easy to do even for our own government.

Sour Grapes hit the nail on the head!

Facebook, Gmail, Instagram, Youtube, Liveleak also help!

when I was at bootcamp, I was told the number one threat facing today's army is social media.
you dont need to hack, some stupid people post enough photos of themselves you can figure out who they are.

This would be an obvious tactic. The question is will they ever get around to and be in position to actually do it. Doesn't seem like much of a threat today.

Yeah I agree. Something about that number seems VERY VERY over exaggerated.

I'd believe 3 a month, not 3400. Someone was keyboard mashing numbers, I'm sure.

That's what I suspect as well. Masher, that is.

I also agree Jiggypotamus, that they very well be just trying to strike fear, but again, you never know. There could be a lone wolf out there who thinks he'll be an asset if he does this for them. There's always one nut in the tree. Lord knows my religion has a few, as well as many others.
