They are not being ignore. USA + France and nearly 40 other country are pounding the crap out of them. 6 RAF Tornado are not going to contribute much.

Best way to stop terrorist attacks?

Tighter border controls.

And what the hell do we pay GCHQ and MI5 for if not to monitor high risk suspects and deal with them on a individual level?

Anyone who is claiming job seekers for longer than 6 months is making a choice to be unemployed!

did you really say this lol? you think that everyone who is unemployed for more than 6 month is by choice?

btw i am for intervention on Isis I think we are dragging in too many sub arguments ( that are linked) in regards to the OP.
I am saying if funded correctly cuts would be better made elsewhere..

didnt we already have the bedroom tax?

the goal post change on disability benefits that struck people off that list very quickly due to categorizing them differently?

and now this....

still waiting for that bankers bonus tax btw......

There are whole areas of the UK where their time has gone, textile mills aren't coming back to Manchester and the north, coal isn't coming back to the valleys. By funding lay about existence all the benefits do is prolong areas that have no revelance anymore. Those people who descended on Manchester and the north from the rural areas and Ireland two hundred years ago, well it's time to move on again. Their regions relevance is no more.

Well if there is no jobs as you put then what are they meant to do if you cut benefits? Eat there own children? Starve?

You cant have no jobs and cut benefits. How that encouragement? Its genocide!

The people up north need jobs to move into first! If there have no jobs to move to then your not encouraging them to do anything except starve!

Then it's up to them to create jobs. Brits are pretty inovative when it comes down to it, just don't expect new Asian factories to start doing a Thatcher and set up in the north. It's not going to happen. It's get on your bike time. Plenty of new world countries will welcome more Brits as they have done over past centuries. Benefits is putting off the inevitable. Cotton and coal aint coming back to employ those masses. Time to move on, like their ancestors did.

Yep I did say that and I know it's true!

I myself a previously high paid City worker left the city to start a family not fully understanding the employment prospects within reasonable commuting distance from the area I was moving to. Low and behold, in 2008 I lost my job and found myself without work.

What did I do? did I go and sit on benefits? NOPE..... I went to work in factory on minimum wage doing 12 hour continental shifts.

why did I do this? because I couldn't afford to live on benefits given a mortgage and kids... and not knowing how to screw the system.

I did that for 18 months until a job in my field did come up and I took it.

Simply put you do what you have to given the demands of the moment, building for the future.

Why do you think there are soooo many migrants coming here... it's not them that are claiming the benefits... they are all out doing factory jobs, while I was working there there was about 70% eastern European workers.... a lot of the English workers that were there didn't last long because they didn't really want to work... they were just doing what was required to keep their benefits.

so I yes I absolute do think that if you haven't found work in 6 months you are making a conscious choice to be out of work!

Not everyone has the ability to run a business.

Plus you need money to start a business! People who have just had there benefits slashed not not going to have the money to start a business.

Some scheme needs to be set up to give business grants. But that will likely cost more than the benefits.

And immigrating? WTF! If your born in the UK then you should not have to move abroad to live and get a job! A British born person should be able to get a British job!

Who are you George Osbone?

No old style manufacturing is not coming back. But Westminster could try and encourage high tec industry and even some banking and service industry to move to areas in in need. Falling that? Make London more affordable so those jobless masses up north can get jobs in London.

The migrants point you raise is an immigration issue. there in my opinion many facets to this debate.

it should be a Basic and primary right of any society to be , warm , housed and clothed.. i mean what are governments for? to take care of the people ? to pool resources for the good of all

i put it to you sir that our pooled resources are for the good of the few not the all , and whilst me and you sit here fighting over the scraps they give us , they are laughing at us tucking into the feast they have prepared themselves.

Not at all.... exactly what is so hard to understand about "You people should stop thinking about yourselves and start to think about the future!"

Everybody wants it now don't they?

you can't see the logic of a concerted and coherent move to better life in the future, as opposed to blow it all now and feck the future?

an example is Family.... now I am more than sure that you love your family... (not 100% sure but damn close), now is it not true to say that your children may have children of their own and those children have children etc?? So when they look back at you what would you like them to think??

1. He did nothing but squander his life away and did nothing for us other than procreate to give us life.

or

2. He gave us life and worked hard to invest in our family, without him our family would not now be privileged enough to do the things we can do.

You have to love your future relatives even if they do not exist yet.. no??

Then what about your fellow man and Mankind in general?

Should we just waste our opportunities to make life in the future better to obtain a slightly easier life now??

This is what that comment meant, in spirit!

Where did you get this idea from?

I didn't say anything even remotely like that at all!

Should be doesn't not mean it is. I know I've seen how people have to fend for themselves in the largest majority of the world, how self sufficient they are and happy, but when they are ill or unable to work or the local militia decide to take their live stock or their families are broken because the local governor raped their 14 year old daughter etc etc.... How they get up at dawn and work all day just to earn enough for a bowl of rice and a fish to feed their families.

When you experience that, it perhaps might put it into perspective about how lucky you are!

i said it came across as having a 'twang' of the above, it appeared to me as a blanket statement , I did not say you said it directly.

what about the other points i raise?

do you know what percentage of the welfare budget actually go's towards unemployment and disability?

would it surprise you to know that nearly 50% of ALL the welfare budget go's to pensions, and that unemployment and other benefits are a mere fraction of the total spent?

So in effect a fraction with a fraction does not really do much to help

Meanwhile the 50% of the budget in pensions is being gambled with by hedge funds and big business daily

they are gambling with YOUR future tell that to your kids!, whilst the hit the worst off , trying to make everyone point at them and scream 'its your fault!'

you make a lot of assumptions about my view of experiences with again a blanket statement...

I left home when i was 16,

I have lived in a cave with only a fire to keep warm, i have walked miles with holes in my shoes and blisters on my feet.

I have been extremely hungry and have nothing but the clothes i was standing in.

so i HAVE been there and i don't have your viewpoint strange that eh?

Me? Why? It's all on circumstances. It's nothing personal, I'm doing fine anyway, in the north, in industry. I'm staying here as I don't rely on an impossible location. Some areas have let's be honest had it. Shipyards, steel and coal have had their time. The Japanese now have Poland and Ukraine to locate their manufacturing aircraft carrier, if it aint working out I'm sorry, just don't rely on my taxes to fund your lay about lifestyle. Get on your bike to quote a legend

And now?

You went from that to?

How did you get to where you are today?

Your stand point as a twang of bitterness. this maybe hard for you but they were your choices. I am not judging you or the choices you made but you have to understand they were your conscious choices.

I might add that had you left home at 16, still a juvenile, you should have been placed in care.

The social system we have in this country although not perfect, mostly down to the human element or rather lack of, it is a system that works for the most part and is extremely well funded!

A system I might add that does not exist in most of the world!

It doesn't surprise me at all as this is the way Government spending works.

It isn't true that all revenues from a source would go back to the source. all revenues are counted in the same pot, and it is the exchequer that makes the budgeting decisions based upon need.
