it has been said that he had made about 1,100 instruments. out of those about 650 survive today, about 500 violins survive.

thats nuts that these instruments are still alive. he died in 1737 and the world still has all these instruments.

have any of you ever seen in person a stradivarius? at an auction or museum?

i just want to hold one. i would also like to know where each one of those violins are at right now.
i wanted to see this one
en.wikipedia.org...

yo yo ma uses a stradivarius cello so we know where 1 is.

i guess the library of congress has a few of his works displayed.

just wondering if you guys ever seen one or been lucky enough to hear one....

im still looking for my red violin......get it?

lady blunt stradivarius

en.wikipedia.org...

The Lady Blunt was sold by Tarisio Auctions on their 20 June 2011 online auction for £9.8 million (US$15.9 million),[3] more than four times the previous auction record for a Stradivarius, held by the Molitor when it sold for US$3.6 million in 2010.

Yes I have seen a Stradivarius violin at the Met in NYC. I was about one foot away since it is displayed in a glass case where anyone can observe the detail. A very fine instrument.
