So im from the UK and love my history. Plus like hiking and wildlife.

So here was the basic plan.

Fly to Atlanta Georgia.

Hire a RV

Drive to Blue Ridge Mountains

Drive down to Charleston south Carolina

Drive up to Richmond Virginia.

Drive up to Washington DC and depart back to the UK from there.

So guys what do you suggest to visit at all those places?

Good museums and parks?

Good food?

Are these places safe?

You have to get past the TSA first. Don't take children, they will get molested.

Seriously, USA is somewhere I would not travel to.

Come to Australia instead.

Or New Zealand, see the whole world's worth of scenery in one country, except deserts, Australia has those.

Sounds like a nice plan.
I would suggest driving up through the Outer Banks of North Carolina on your way up to Richmond, VA. It really is a beautiful place to see (Stop for lunch at Howard's Restaurant in Okracoke and have a deep fried dill pickle!).
You will be safe. The news media makes our country out to be the Wild West, but it really isn't.
I will be looking forward to hearing how your holiday turns out for you!

Take it from much experience, you will not receive a warm welcome. It will set the tone for the rest of the trip, you will be angry and watching your back the whole time. Risk your vacation time and money somewhere else.

Canada, in my opinion, is a much better option for a summer vacation. In the populated cities from east to west the average temps are balmy 20-40 degrees Celsius. We tend not to have overly offensive airport security and all in all your BP will go far on the CDN dollar. Sure you don't get the American history sites and scenes. But Canada has a good amount of both to offer. Plus beautiful beaches all around.

ummm, lol, why go there and risk getting killed as an illegal alien when there are so many other amazing places to go, like middle earth for instance. go to New Zealand and cast your ring into the firery depths of mount doom, or come to Australia and visit, just look out for Mick Taylor stay away from the desert!.

Good museums and parks?

If you are going to Washington I would walk around the National Mall, all of the monuments are located there. If you can get a tour of the Capitol Building I think you would enjoy it. The Smithsonian, while huge, is worth visiting for the main exhibits.

Good food?

If you are passing through South Carolina you need to get your self some barbeque.

Are these places safe?

Yes, you are going to the South, not downtown Detroit or the South Side of Chicago.

Enjoy yourself and let us know what you experienced.

Ignore the drama queens, you will indeed be welcomed by the friendliest people on earth and will find that our country, outside of a few bad neighborhoods in some of the inner cities which you wouldn't go to anyway, is totally safe.

Maybe visit Smokey Mountains N.P. As well, gorgeous.

If you were doing florida I'd suggest Disney World.
St. Augustine is also nice an historic.
Maybe a tour of Cape Canaveral space center.

I don't have any suggestions for anything other than florida.

Why? Are people there just angry in general or is it because Im British? Did the war of 1812 not end in those parts?

Some people are overly paranoid - it isn't that bad at the airports.

It might be out of your way, but Savannah in Georgia is a great place to visit.

There's also Chattanooga in TN - lot's to see there.

I travel a lot for business and I find the people in the South to be quite friendly and hospitable, even when they hear my New Jersey accent. I think you will find them to be closer to your politeness level then other regions. They do operate on their own pace but at least it is friendly.
