I watched TNT's new show called The Last Ship. I thought it was pretty good kind of reminds me a bit of Stephen Kings the Stand.. If you watched it what did you think.. I thought it was pretty good I will be watching more episodes. Here is a link to the show The Last Ship

"Captain Tom Chandler and the crew of the USS Nathan James set out for the Arctic with two civilian virologists, Dr. Rachel Scott and Dr. Quincy Tophet, who claim to be studying birds. When they come under attack by a renegade team of Russian forces, Chandler learns these virologists are actually collecting samples of the source of a deadly virus that has wiped out over half the human population while they’ve been at sea. As they head home on the orders of the remaining U.S. government, Chandler and his crew realize that home is a shadow of what they left, and the safest place to develop a vaccine for this deadly disease is out at sea on their ship."

I really enjoyed it. Nothing better than watching some doom porn. Although I have to admit that the scenario is quite scary. Perhaps closer to a real possible end to humanity than say, Nibiru....

Since you enjoyed The Last Ship, you should watch the Stand if you have not seen it. I think one of Stephen Kings Best Movies.

I dislike Stephen King. He has these huge stories that are twisted and convoluted with complicated plots. I suspect he ends all his books the same way. In two pages and when he is out of co-caine.....

Maybe it's just me but there seems to be a lot of these post apocalyptic themed shows lately.

Not saying that's a bad thing--- quite the common scenario among Si-Fi writers after all.

I found the set up a little lacking--- often the case with new shows--- Sometimes it takes a few eps to get me invested.
at least it doesn't have that lame forbidden teen love deal going the way the 100 and Star Crossed do.

That is what I like about his books and movies.

I've disliked Stephen king since the preteen gang bang scene in IT, that's a good thing in the plot. Can't believe it doesn't get press..

We watched it, and I enjoyed. Michael Bay is very good at doing military right; however, I am watching with my husband who's a microbiologist, so he's pointing out every little inconsistency with the science. It's like attempting to watch an illusionist with him. He's always trying to figure out how it's done, and I don't care so much, I'd rather suspend my disbelief.

Right off the bat, he started in with, "So she put on that suit in the chopper? Riiiight." Then later on, "They're gonna need a lot more mice ... a lot more mice. I hope they're breeding them."

So, it might get a little hard to watch with him from time to time. I don't watch most plague-themed movies with him for that reason.

He doesn't always make the movie itself good (see the Transformers franchise), but he generally gives the military a respectful treatment in his movies.

In the second episode there will be a Russian destroyer, which acts of course completely uncivilised (no spoilers, but they seem to hate croissants..)

Of course.

And if all else fails, lets pray!

USA! U_S_A!
..
.

Sorry, this series failed the test for "world-wide-acceptance", because of unreflected patriotism (on behalf of one country, which makes it quite incompatible to all the other countries). Still liked Breaking Bad best.

Well, there had to be some bad guy. And in the US (since this is an American produced series) the Russians are apparently still an acceptable antagonist to use and fit the tensions of the day.

I suppose there could have been an Iranian destroyer, but that would have been too un-PC.

Of course, it seems to me that if they already have the ingredients for the vaccine, this is shaping up to be a very short series unless things get complicated quickly. So it may be that the Russians are the only ones chasing them for long.

Not bad, not great. TEOTWAWKI is always fun to watch. It might have something to say, so I'll keep watching for now.

Will have to check this one out. The one brief preview I saw didn't do a good job outlining the concept. Your initial blurb did though.

Of course, Michael Bay does have some negative connotations, but eh...(can't get that Team America song out of my head...."Why does Michael Bay get to keep on making movies? I guess Pearl Harbor sucked....just a little bit more than I miss....you....")

I liked it. Don't see it lasting a full season on air.

I liked it. I've only seen the first couple of episodes, so getting caught up. Does a good job of building some suspense. (and it's fun to guess when the required EXPLOSIONS scene is going to be...) Doubt it will make it past a season though. I think it's because the folks who like such shows don't watch them live, but recorded.

This show is full of inaccuracies, silly "rah rah" USA moments, and VERY cheesy and cliche lines..

And I love it
I am looking forward to the second season.

I think it has already been renewed for a second season.

It is an okay show. The only thing I do not like is that the virus is airborne but they only have to wear there masks and contamination suits if there in the same building as the virus. The episode on Guantanamo bay they were so worried about getting out of the hospital before the air ran out, so they would not have to breath the virus. Then they take off there masks a foot from the hospital door.
